#GrubbStrong :: Fighting Mason Grubb’s Cancer

Donation protected
A lot of people keep asking how they can help ... so I thought this would be an easy way to help and make a difference.

For those that don't know, on July 20th, Mason Grubb, my husband's brother and best friend, went to the ER because he was having severe stomach pains. After running some tests, they found a tumor the size of a golf ball in his stomach lining. The pain was caused from the tumor pressing into his stomach. They took a biopsy and did some scans. The scans showed additional lesions on his liver. The doctors here in Boise couldn't determine what kind of cancer it was from the biopsy, saying it was abnormal, so they sent it to a cancer clinic in Cleveland for further testing.

On August 6th, Mason was officially diagnosed  with "sarcomatoid carcinoma." Sarcoma  is a cancer of the bone, cartilage, fat, muscle, blood vessels, or other connective or supportive tissue and makes up less that 1% of all adult cancers. Carcinoma is a cancer that begins in the skin or in tissues that line or cover internal organs in the body. The mixture of the two types mean it is incredibly rare and very aggressive. The only case studies that the oncologist could find in the country have not ended well. We are told that time is of the essence. However, none of the oncologists in Boise have ever dealt with this type of cancer before so we are trying to send him to the #1 sarcoma center in the nation, The MD Anderson Cancer Center at the University of Texas, in Houston.

Mason's wife, Terrianna, has taken an unpaid leave of absence from her work so she can focus her energy on helping Mason and their 10-month old baby girl get through this. In just this short time, they have already incurred $4,000 in medical bills. If they start going back and forth to Houston, travels costs will add up quickly. A single, round-trip airline ticket will cost around $300 and a one nights stay in Houston will cost around $100.

This is where you come in.  Anything you could contribute would help immensely. And if you cannot afford to help monetarily, we also could use prayers, meals, encouraging cards, airline mileage points, this post shared with all your friends, and ???

Together, we can help Mason fight this terrible disease.

Thank you!
