Help sponsor an activist to attend Abolitionist Futures in London 2018 to grow the global abolitionist movement!
2017 was the year for building walls, division and securing borders. We want 2018 to be the year of building bridges, strengthening international movements and creating spaces for learning and collaboration to build a world without punishment, prisons and police.
We know there are activists from all around the world doing incredible anti-prison organising work, who want to join in the conversation and strategising this summer. We want to support them to attend this year's International Conference on Penal Abolition, Abolitionist Futures in London, 15 - 18th June 2018.
But this costs money.
The conference is running on a very small budget and needs your support to enable low-income participants to attend. We aim to offer bursary places to help cover the costs of registration, travel, accommodation and disability support for those on low income. In allocating funding, we will be prioritising those from disadvantaged backgrounds, especially people of colour, LGBTQ, disabled, indigenous and formerly incarcerated people, who should be at the forefront of our movement.
The number of bursaries we can offer is dependent on the number of donations we receive.
Would you be able to make a donation to help support someone to come to the event? The more money donated, the more bursary places we can offer. Just £5 will make a difference.
What your money will do:
£5 = contributes to food costs for an activist during the conference.
£15 = contributes to the registration fees for an activist to attend.
£30 = contributes to disability support & accessibility costs for disabled activists.
£50 = covers the registration fees for an activist to attend.
£100 = supports the travel costs for a UK-based activist to attend ICOPA.
£500 = supports the travel costs for an international activist to attend ICOPA.
Reclaim Justice Network (RJN), in collaboration with the ICOPA Organising Committee, will be allocating bursaries against a set and agreed criteria. Chris Hignett is RJN's account holder.
