Dearest friends and family of Greg and Lara,
On the morning of Tuesday July 24th, Lara’s world was turned upside down. She lived a nightmare in her own home when she found that her husband Greg had died in his sleep. Like a quick flash, the love of her life was suddenly gone.
Greg and Lara are from the same area of New Jersey and have been married for ten years. They're avid fans of the New York Giants and live music, especially the band Phish.
Lara is now left behind with their two young daughters, Charlee and Harper, along with a big mystery about her family's future.
Harper just turned one and is a new walker. Charlee will be four in September. They're left with a hole in their lives - an absence that will undoubtedly be confusing for a long time. Greg was always there being the best dad that kids could ask for. Lara plans to enroll Charlee in a group at the Dougy Center for Grieving Children as soon as possible.
Nothing made Greg happier than his family. He felt great joy knowing that he could give Lara what she wanted - the opportunity to stay home with Charlee and Harper while he earned income for the family. Being the social, people-person that he was, Greg was a popular teacher at Mt Tabor Middle School in Portland, OR. The Wall Family lived on Greg's salary.
Now, Lara is in need of our help and support. She is left with little savings, only two months of Greg's upcoming paychecks and only two months of health insurance for her family. She has little family on the west coast. Lara has worked only small, hourly jobs since becoming a mother 4 years ago and does not have a good job or childcare to rely upon while single parenting. Greg was a responsible person with life insurance setup for his family. However, the amount is not sustainable and it is unclear when that money will arrive.
The money raised will go towards memorial expenses and upcoming expenses in the year ahead such as Charlee's preschool tuition, health insurance for the family, and other bills and expenses.
Lara, Charlee, and Harper have a long road ahead. In the weeks, months, and years to follow, they'll be deep in sorrow and re-growth. But by lowering Lara's stress about finances now, we are allowing her to be a better mom and focus on grieving and healing.
