Welcome to the Show News and Broadcast Blog

Hi! I'm Jeffrey Bingham Mead, pictured above at the front door of the Bush Holley House National Historic Site and headquarters of the Greenwich Historical Society.

The Greenwich, A Town For All Seasons Show started its broadcast history on September 26, 2018 on Radio 1490 WGCH Greenwich, Connecticut and WGCH.com  anywhere. The show airs every-other Wednesday morning starting at 9:00 a.m.

This is the first time in Greenwich's history  that there has been a radio show specifically dedicated to the town's rich heritage and culture. I've been blessed with some superb guests showcased during the Talk of the Town conversation segment.

Born and raised in Greenwich, I am a direct descendant of one of its founding families. My background and interests are varied and ever-evolving. In an earlier chapter in my life I was a former board member and trustee of the Greenwich Historical Society and former local history contributing writer at Greenwich Time in the 1980s and 1990s.

Today I continue as a member of the Capt. Matthew Mead Branch of the Connecticut Society of the Sons of the American Revolution; an adjunct university professor and lecturer in the states of Hawaii and Connecticut; president and co-founder of History Education Hawaii, Inc., the Hawaii Council of the National Council for History Education (since 2006); president/founder of the Historic Mead Family Burying Grounds Association, author of Chains Unbound: Slave Emancipations in Greenwich, Connecticut, and more.

The evolution and growth of the Internet has opened all sorts of new doors! Check out my Greenwich history blog sites:

From Greenwich Free Press: "The show seeks to build bridges between past and present; feature local business, historical news and cultural events for long-time residents and newcomers alike; entertain, contribute to and heighten knowledge of the history of Greenwich, Connecticut and ultimately do its part in its sustained preservation.”

“We’re looking forward to establishing long-term strategic partnerships with the town’s historic preservation organizations, its citizens and expats all over the world. Greenwich is a town for all seasons and all people -everyone is invited to our celebration of the town’s culture and heritage,” Mead added.

The show has a Facebook site that all are invited to join.  Please like the page and check in often.

WHY A GOFUNDME CAMPAIGN?
Radio is a fantastic medium for education and community-building purposes. Bear in mind there are no hidden agendas here.  I've always seen the show as a way to educate newcomers and established residents and expats alike about the fine textures of Greenwich, Connecticut's history. In recent years we've seen historic sites demolished and destroyed, often for no reason at all. Some see Greenwich as going in a new direction for the enjoyment of a select-few, a branding opportunity. Not here, not this show.

There are costs involved in radio broadcasting, and this show is no exception. We are always looking for underwriters and advertising partners who share our values by supporting Greenwich, A Town For All Seasons -and I hope you'll join us!

The show can be heard in real time via the Internet from anywhere in the world with online access via WGCH.com. The Shows and Hosts section features our most recent broadcasts. You can listen to all archived shows according to your schedule and at your leisure for free on the channels I created on Podcasts.com  and SoundCloud

Your support means a lot to me, but also to the thousands of listeners whose passion for Greenwich's history shines. Whether your roots here go back to the 17th century Colonial era like mine, or you're brand new to Greenwich you're invited to be a part of an ongoing story that continues to be written, and now broadcasted.

Thank you for your support! It means a great deal.

Best,

Jeffrey Bingham Mead
