Please help me make a difference.

I'm a detailed type of person who is affected deeply by everything. I see beauty in the smallest of things: the giggles of young children building sand castles on the beach… and I FEEL and appreciate the joy these things/experiences elicit.

This past year I’ve been travelling: exploring beaches, lakes, rivers, forests, parks, quaint towns… in this wonderful country that we live in. But because I’m that “detailed type of person” I don’t just see the beauteous things, I see details… and I am saddened by the tons of litter and trash strewn along the roads, in the waters, outside of businesses, down hiking trails… everywhere! No matter where I go I see GARBAGE disrupting (ruining) these picturesque places.

I have “it” bad. I drive to the store: McDonald’s wrappers and beer bottles. I go to the park: cigarette butts, Big Gulps. I take a kayak ride: plastic grocery bags and soda cans.
It’s kinda like I’ve got “Where’s Waldo?” disease with trash!

These things don’t belong, they’re ruining our planet, and disrupting our pleasurable experiences. They’re displays of the uncaring and lazy and I get sooo frustrated and saddened.

I know environmentally focused organizations already exist and do a great service. Educating society about our personal habits and how it affects the whole is so valuable. Those that volunteer to these groups are all very important but more needs to be done: I feel it’s as important to be DOING something, ACTING.

I want to significantly make a difference: I care. The environment and its future matters. I want to do something of value with my time and energy. To personally affect the betterment of where we live. It’s about everyone, our world: present and future.

I endeavor to walk/hike/travel along the roads and trails, neighborhoods and businesses, and Pick up the garbage, Clean up after others, and Green Up our home. I want to be an example and SHOW that LOVE is a VERB.

Please help me do this. It takes time, transportation, gas, supplies, etc. to travel to different locations and walk/hike to clean up our environment where it is needed. ANY financial assistance/donation is appreciated. You can help me make a difference. Please help me make a difference.

Update 3/3/19:
A great, warm day in Central Florida and off to explore The Florida National Scenic Trail for a change from highway trash collecting. Hiking under a canopy of palms and pines, it was a great six miles down the orange and blue flagged trails, along a few bodies of water (Summit Pond, Dora’s Pond, Buck Lake), and through a somewhat busy campground. The trail itself was enjoyed by about a dozen fellow explorers and most surprisingly: NO TRASH along the trail (however there were some areas around the campers that were strewn with litter)! I was pleasantly surprised and sooo appreciative of those that keep it CLEAN and GREEN! Thank you hikers (and/or Federal Employees, Volunteers)! www.Greenup.earth will focus in other areas of need next.
Note: hike smart and prepared. I brought trash collecting items but forgot water! Duh!

With just a few hours to spare for a cleanup today I decided to head to this pretty “swimming hole” off of Hwy 445A close to Hwy 19. It had been really trashed a few months ago but when I went to check it out the other day the only issues were in the parking area on the highway, so I felt it would be pretty manageable in the little time I had. But as I turned from Hwy 19 to 445A I noticed how trash laden it was from the intersection onward. So I pulled over about .2 miles from the intersection and started my pick up excursion back to the intersection. 2 ½ hours later: 4 full bags of trash, one grocery bag of cans, and tire and car remnants. But only one side of the road and for only 2 tenths of a mile! Sadly I didn’t get anywhere near the “swimming hole”! I felt hopeless, despondent. Like my effort didn’t even make a dent at what needs to be done! But it was something, I guess. And something is better than nothing! Off to another trip to the transfer station… I’ll get to that “swimming hole” someday… and oh, yea, Grasshopper Lake still needs attention…. And so does Hwy 40… and…
