WAAO (We Are All One) is a non profit organisation created in October 2013. Its purpose is to raise awareness about plastic in the oceans. We think there are some solutions. One is a technological challenge and the other one is a human challenge.
On one hand we can use biodegradable plastic, find many technical ways of gathering plastic in the oceans. However the amount is huge. It is estimated to be the size of a continent or at least to be twice the size of Texas.
On the other hand the most important and direct action concerning this, is simply to pick up ourselves our trash, feel concerned about it and participate in clean ups.
The new WAAO campaign consist in gathering volunteers in Gozo & Malta. We give a free mesh bag & a t-shirt to support clean ups and do it anywhere, any time. Also the sport communities will be part of it .
How and when we do it? We start this summer 2017 with an outdoor International Brazilian jiu-jitsu & freediving Camp . The training areas are made of recycled materials.
The funds will be raised through the donations and the sales of kimonos, t-shirts & sports gears with the colours of the campaign.

Detail of each items:
Mesh-bag: it is made of mesh natural material (cotton or bamboo fibers). We use it when we dive to collect plastic trash and also on land. It can be also useful in your house or for any purpose as it is reusable.
T-shirts: good quality t-shirts (cotton or bamboo fibers), come in all size, with the logo WAAO "We Are All One"
BJJ Gis: we have already made BJJ products with the same suppliers, all the students gave very good feed back about the quality and design. We put the lowest price for the best quality. The Gis are made of cotton or hemp (anti microbial and very resistant). They are plain white, with the WAAO logo. The stiching is green, to have a discret "green up" connection with our action on the field.
BJJ CAMP: if you want to practice jiu-jitsu in a friendly-international-incredibly beautiful place this summer you are welcome here! You can camp, we take you to the camping sites and organise the transport + the training for only 300€ a week in a paradise, close to the sea. We can choose an accomodation you share with other students for 500€ a week only (BJJ trainings + accomodation). The training are both outdoors & indoors, twice a day (morning & evening).
FREEDIVING: we take you to the dive sites with the freediving WAAO boat: blue laggoon, shipwrecks, incredible caves... We have 3 options with the best prices you can get in Gozo & Malta (you have a full transport service, logistics, jeep and speeddboat): one day full trip with a certified diving instructor (120€), one week around Gozo & Comino + accomodation (700€), one week all around the archipelago, a fantastic adventure with the Blue Grotto and mysterious Filfla (900€). For sure you will share with us a very exciting adventure, with a lot of fun and laugh :D However security and environment are our master guidelines. The meteo, the ocean, Nature will always have the last word! But it is such a happiness so good to do good, with people who resonnate the same. Life is just a wonderful and precious gift :)
Our actions:
The cleanups have been our first actions, with a bit of sport and adventure. So for this new campaign we want to encourage people to do their own clean ups and to bring the plastic collected to a place we agree with a Gozo local council. In this place we will collect and transform plastic into different types of items (for the jiu-jitsu camp, freediving, etc). It is a long term action. Because we think it is not enough to simply pick up the plastic trash. We thought it would be great to recycle it ourself. So we connect this project to another one that help to build the machines to transform in a simple way the plastic we gather. So instead of seeing plastic as a bad thing, we must accept the fact that we have to do something with it... Here is the video below explaining how to recycle yourself with simple means. So we go do it in Gozo & Malta :) Thank you to Dave Hakkens who does such an amazing work. We want to join this movement, we think that we really can do a lot all together, because we are indeed all One!
So to summarize, there will be cleanups, bjj trainings, freediving sessions, adventure, good meals, lot's of fun & we will even create cool plastic stuff :)
If you want to help us gather plastic and transform it for the benefit of the community then you can pre-order on the right column what ever you like. Bags, T-hirts and and bjj gis will be delivered once we reach a minimum amount. The bjj and the freediving activities start from Saturday 24th of June and finish the 31 of August with a possible extension.
