Green Gold and Blues

In the past two years, I have lost two people to depression that I thought would be in my life for many years to come.  However rather than sit back and feel sorry for myself, I decided to do something about it, as I want to do everything I can to try and prevent others from being in this situation.

So many people suffer in silence when it comes to depression and mental health. I want to make the conversation about mental health an everyday subject - something that everyone can feel safe talking about.

In November 2018, I'm going to be setting off with 4 horses on a 5,330km/3,300mile trek up the East Coast of Australia to raise awareness and funds for beyondblue (AUS) and NAMI (USA). Both are amazing not for profits that have done incredible work helping a huge number of people with mental health.  Along the way, I will be stopping off at local towns and speaking at schools, talking to locals and promoting mental health as something that is no less shameful as having a cold.

Funds raised from this campaign will go directly to costs associated with preparing for, and being on the trail. Gear, food, medical supplies, horse care, postage for supply drops...the list goes on!

Honestly, at the end of the day, if I can help just one person seek help instead of taking the same route as the people I've lost, this project will be the biggest success.

Funds raised for this campaign will assist by purchasing:
- Riding and pack horses for the trail
- Horse gear (trail saddle, pack saddle, pack saddle panniers, saddle pads, bridles etc.)
- Camping gear (tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag)
- Food drops for along the trail and postage
- Electronics (GPS, solar panels, drone to document ride)

If you'd like more information about this ride, visit my website www.greengoldandblues.com and send through a message. I'd love to answer any questions!

Any contribution will be appreciated more than I can say - no donation is too small and every dollar raised will be going towards helping combat the stigma associated with mental health.

Thank you so much!
Jodie
