Great Blue Heron Recovery Fund

Tax deductible
On February 27th a female great blue heron was admitted to Santa Barbara Wildlife Care Network (SBWCN) by an Animal Control Officer.

The X-rays, shown here, indicate that the bird suffered from at least 4 gun shot wounds throughout her body. The x-ray also showed she was carrying an egg inside of her.

She is now standing, a great improvement, and has been moved to a larger enclosure at our center. We're hoping that she will make a full recovery!

To care for this bird, she must be tube fed throughout the day - and SBWCN relies 100% on donations to provide life saving treatment to wildlife. Costs of care include:  medical examination, X-rays, medicines, food, medical care, and other associated costs.

What's next for this Great Blue Heron?  SBWCN hopes she will be able to eat on her own soon, a solid step towards full recovery.  SBWCN is waiting for medical advice concerning the time it has retained the egg. We will keep this page updated as she makes progress.

Thank you for considering making a donation to the Great Blue Heron Recovery Fund!
