Graze in Peace Farm
Graze in Peace is a domestic and farm animal rescue located in Durham, Maine, where abused, abandoned and neglected animals live out the rest of their lives in a safe, natural and peaceful environment. We provide medical treatment and rehabilitation when needed and a forever home for all animals we take in. Our current residents include pigs, chickens, sheep, llamas, dogs and cats. Although we are working on establishing a 501c3, up until now we have been paying for all of this rescue work through our own personal funds.
Our current farm is one we've carved out of a 20-acre wooded parcel over the past 4 years. Much of the ground work was done with rented and borrowed equipment. Every rental cost us $175/day (plus $100 delivery). That's a huge expense and with the price of hay going up and a round of huge vet bills last month, we can no longer afford to keep doing this. We are in real need of a tractor of our own.
Our pig yard, sheep yard and pig house flooded in the rains last month and we are having to raise barns and put in all new gravel and dirt throughout. Without a tractor, this work will take weeks. We are in URGENT need of funds to help us get a tractor to get this work done before the snow flies and the ground freezes. This "ground" work is essential to providing our animals with a safe and healthy home.
