Over the course of the last week or so, Grant (2 years old) hasn't been feeling well. Earlier this week he was sent to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis to meet with some experts. Children's hospital recommended an MRI based on some lab results. The MRI showed a mass on his kidneys and near his hip. The doctors are stating that is neuroblastoma (From Mayo Clinic: Neuroblastoma is a cancer that develops from immature nerve cells found in several areas of the body.
Neuroblastoma most commonly arises in and around the adrenal glands, which have similar origins to nerve cells and sit atop the kidneys. However, neuroblastoma can also develop in other areas of the abdomen and in the chest, neck and near the spine, where groups of nerve cells exist.
Neuroblastoma most commonly affects children age 5 or younger, though it may rarely occur in older children.)
On Thursday, he is having surgery to do a biopsy on the mass. At this time, they will also put in a port for future chemo treatments. At this point, the plan is to do 6 rounds of chemo, which will keep Grant in the hospital for 5 days at a time.
Curt works full-time and Cindy is a stay at home mom to their 3 beautiful children; Tessa (4), Grant and Shane (11 weeks).
The reason for the Go Fund Me is to allow Curt to take time off work to be with his family while Grant is going through his chemo treatments and hospital stays. The family thanks you in advance for any amount of money you are able to give and would really appreciate all positive thoughts and prayers.
