Granny's Fire Fund

Donation protected
Shirley Ford, 87 years old, lost all that she had in the early morning of December 15th to an apartment fire.  This courageous and humble great-great- grandmother escaped through a window in her nightgown, boots and winter coat.   She lost everything else, including her full set of dentures and christmas presents for each of her 7 kids, over 40 grandchildren and all the spouses.   It is important to her that everyone recieve something from her no matter how small at Christmas time.

Shirley Ford is my grandmother and is one of the most selfless individuals I have ever meet.  She came from nothing, raised 7 children on meager means and while she had nothing she still opened her door to the occasional family friend that needed a place to stay or something to eat.   She lost everything she had in the fire with nothing in the bank to start over.  Living on a fixed income it was hard to find a place she could afford looking for another place will be harder.  Please consider any amount of donation in order to bring my grandma’s smile back and make her independant again.

MLive picked up the story about her narrow escape and her desire to go back in and help her friend on the second story.
