Grandma's Hope

Hi,

My name is Harold Arnold Button (Arne), and this is my mother Elaine Trautman Button.

                                        She is dying.

                            No one can change that.

But that is not why I am here.  I am here because she want's to live.  We don't know how long, no one can tell, but she wants to live.

Mom has a lung disease called:

                             Chronic Bronchiectasis

last week the doctors told us it is in its final Stages.

Basically Bronchiectasis slowly destroys the lungs linings and replaces them with scar tissue until the body is no longer able to expel fluids trapped in the lungs, leading to infections like Pneumonia.  As the disease progresses these infections become more and more dificult to treat.
This condition began for my mother when she was Eight years old when she had a third of her right lung removed to combat the illness.

Mom has almost always been sick.

In a otherwise healthy person this illness can be treated with simple inhalers and occasional antibiotics when infected, but in Elaine's case she is allergic to most known antibiotics, and the few left cost thousands of dollar a week when needed.   In addition special inhalers are needed to keep her lungs clear so they do not become infected again.  We have been blessed with an insurance plan that pays a large portion of the medical bills currently but even with that her inhaler alone costs $200 every two weeks, and that is never going away.

Both my Mom and Dad (John) have been on disability for over Ten years now.  They have a mortgage on their house that was used to pay past medical bills, utility bills, more medical bills, and the upkeep of an aging house.

As a result of this diagnosis they are faced with a horrible choice.  They can no longer pay their medical bills and their Mortgage.

I've helped them all I could.  My wife is a saint.  She has never complained or argued with me once.  We have paid their mortgage when they got behind, helped with medical bills and food.  Two years ago some friends sold me a good old car at a ridiculously low price that I repaired so Mom and Dad had a safe way to get around.

As a result I have neglected our own home.  We are also falling behind on our bills.  My Grandpa Harold left me this house, words cannot describe what a blessing that was, but with helping my folks each year it has become harder and harder to keep up with the taxes.  Missy and I face tax foreclosure if I continue to help my Parents survive.

I have been able to pull enough together to get their morgage current for now...

Well thats enough of that.  I didn't come to you to complain.  That's not why we are here.

We will do what we have to.  If I've got to lose my home to keep her alive so be it.

I refuse to watch my Mom suffer and die without her medications, or lose her home and will to live.

                              That's why I am here.

If together we can raise enough money to pay their mortgage, then the medical bills will be manageable for them.

Mom can get the treatment she needs in the home she has lived in for 38 years.

I know it's a difficult goal, let God take this where he will.  He brought me here, to you.

Thank you for taking the time read our story.  We welcome your consideration, and your prayers.  For when ever two or more are gathered in his name, there is love.  Please share this with everyone you feel led to.

No one can know what God's plan is to bless us, or to bless you.

I leave you with a picture of the real reason Grandma keeps holding on and wants to live, our son JP.

I have no words for this.

      Love,

The Button Family.
