Gowtham's Kidney Transplant

Gowtham is an energetic and happy young guy, who did well in studies, finished his diploma in civil engineering in India and managed to get a job in the construction industry at age 24. He helped his family out of debts and successfully arranged for his sister to get married. Unfortunately got diagnosed stage 4 CKD at the age of 27 in 2015 and has been on dialysis for the last 2 years. He has been listed for transplant and was on the waiting list as there were no living relatives with ABO compatibility.  His health had deteriorated significantly to a stage where he was requiring recurrent admissions to hospital. He had been out of job for nearly three years due to this. Transplant was the only hope for this young man. The transplant surgeons suggested an ABO-incompatible living donor transplant if available. His mother agreed to be the donor and he had the transplant in January 2019 after a few hiccups. Thanks to the fantastic donors who pitched in and the local funds we gathered, The surgery was successful and Gautham managed to have all his post-transplant medications without interruption. We have negotiated with the pharmaceutical companies to buy those medications directly and at wholesale saving costs. His current monthly treatment costs are at around 30,000 rupees (330 pounds approximately) and he and his family surely will appreciate and benefit from any financial gift.
