Gospel and Hip Hop Outreach 2018

Tax deductible
The CollECtive Choir started 3 years ago as two churches combined with a local after-school youth program to put together a choir that would promote community, and provide the structure for people of different ages, cultures, churches and backgrounds to find unity and belonging in Christ, and then publicly display that one-ness as we lift up Jesus name with exuberant praise.  Our persistence in this mission has paid off!  The city is seeing examples of how God's Church is not divided, but one body; people are hearing and seeing that true joy in the Lord exists; and many people are being encouraged as they find new life and freedom in Jesus and begin to explore their life's direction in the family of God.   Since we started we have had many individuals, as well as 15 different churches represented in our membership.  We have sang with the homeless, we have danced with hipsters, we have visited the incarcerated, we have done rap-battles with the youth, we have celebrated with different churches, we have engaged and played with many of the local musicians, and encouraged those in recovery and restoration, and shared freedom in Christ with the addicted.  We give all glory to God who works in his saints!
Many people who have become a part of the choir have experienced the restoration and healing that comes from the true love of Jesus, as we pray for each other and sing the truth of God in music.  Members have increased in their boldness for Jesus as we share that joy with general public and pray for others in need that we encounter.
We have now hosted our rehearsals and a few events at the Lighthouse Youth Center for 3 years to be a persistent presence in prayer, encouragement and community for some of the at-risk youth in the downtown.
The music that we sing is mostly Gospel and Hip hop with a splash of traditional R&B and pop to take our own spin on the genre.  This is for 4 reasons:
-to have music that can engage a relatively wide range of audience
-to encourage the community to think outside of the box for what community choir can look like
-To engage in a genre to welcome some of the marginalized cultures in Eau Claire
-It is a blast!

In your giving you are helping us to continue our mission and expand our ministry to people in Eau Claire: we currently rehearse every week, and have 10-12 public events per year.   But with this campaign, you are also helping us step into it with more gusto as we expand our capabilities to connect with people through recording and handing out our new album (for free), and engaging diverse neighborhoods with organized block parties.
Because our album is almost done, funds are needed to wrap up production costs from the last 8 months, and pay for printing.  We would like it to be ready by mid-May to give out to folks that we encounter as we build relationships.  Additional equipment is needed for our summer block parties (a generator and microphones), and our operation costs continue as usual.  Some of the reasons for the operation costs are based on our values.  We value all ages, and wish to provide childcare for young families that want to be involved.  We also value the music economy of Eau Claire, and seek to love our musicians by having an "Opt out" payment plan.  Unlike other charities that try to pull people into it at no cost to them, we wish to contribute to our local musicians' livelihood.  Half of them do "opt out."  But some of them receive the compensation gratefully, and all of them feel respected and loved.  That all being said, we will need most of the funds within the next month, and the rest as we close up the summer.

The support that you give will mean a strong launch into a very important season in Wisconsin: Summer.  We embrace it, and make the most of opportunities to connect people through the good news of Jesus and through music  We anticipate singing for 6000 people throughout 2018.

Thank you all for the help you may give - if you have read this far, we know that you are interested, or perhaps even passionate about the work of the Kingdom that God has given to this beautiful CollECtive of individuals.  We give thanks to God for the generosity that he may stir up in your heart, and appreciate your willingness to invest in this ministry.
