GORILLA GUARDIAN FUND

Donation protected
Mountain gorillas need our help more than ever, with the recent murders of 6 wildlife rangers!

Myself (Brodee) and my colleague and avid conservationist (Aleisha) who is the host and producer of Extinction Sucks (http://www.nationalgeographic.com.au/tv/extinction-sucks/) are preparing the second series!

Our first mission is to raise funds to support the families of fallen rangers who gave their lives to protect our closest living relatives from extinction and to support their colleagues in continuing their work in protecting this beautiful species.

Poachers will go to any extreme to get their hands on baby gorillas to sell on the black market. They are willing to kill not only an infant gorilla's entire family but also the rangers that risk their lives to save the few remaining mountain gorillas that are left in the wild.

The world's remaining 800 mountain gorillas live in densely populated and severely poor areas of Africa, among intense human activity. Poaching, infection, disease and habitat loss are some of the many threats that the mountain gorillas face daily.

The national park rangers and vets protect both the forest and the gorillas through routine checks and monitoring.

These workers need on-going funding and financial assistance for sufficient medical gear, supplies and tracking equipment to ensure the survival of our closest living relatives.

$30 can cover funding for two ranger's full-day patrol, support a family of a fallen ranger for two weeks, or supply 100 cucumbers to orphan and amputee gorillas.

$1000 USD can save a gorilla from poaching snares and provide medical assistance until they are healthy enough to be released back into the wild.

Aleisha and I are preparing to travel to Rwanda and Virunga National Park to deliver equipment and financial support to the families of fallen rangers, the gorilla vets, rangers and the orphan gorilla centre, Senkwekwe.

EVERY DOLLAR COUNTS!!!

Finally, we would like to send love and support to the families that have lost relatives from recent poaching activities and murder incidences. "A ranger’s greatest fear is not losing his life, but the impact their death will have on family members left behind".
