Gord Spindor ALS Fundraiser

This is my dad, Gord Spindor. He’s my best friend, travel partner and confidant. A lot of people may already know, but for those that don’t: he was diagnosed with ALS last October. Our family is devastated. This hasn’t been an easy diagnosis, and we are battling everyday to come to terms with the future that has changed so drastically for our family.

For those of you that don’t know what ALS is: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (also known as ALS, Lou Gehrig’s disease, or motor neuron disease) is a disease that gradually paralyzes people because the brain is no longer able to communicate with the muscles of the body that we are typically able to move at will. Over time, as the muscles of the body break down, someone living with ALS will lose the ability to walk, talk, eat, swallow, and eventually breathe.
ALS is not contagious. There is no cure for ALS and few treatment options for the majority of people living with the disease. Approximately 80 per cent of people with ALS die within two to five years of being diagnosed.

My dad’s family suggested we create a go fund me page to raise money for all the extra costs my parents will incur while my dad battles this disease.
