Gooseberry Mesa Bike Repair Station

My name is Ryan Lisonbee and I am a Life Scout of Troop 1789 in LaVerkin, UT. I am excited to work on my Eagle Project because I think it will be something that will be so helpful to so many that come to mountain bike in my backyard.
For my Eagle Project I will be installing a bicycle repair station near at the Gooseberry Mesa parking lot, which is where most bikers begin their fun on the trail. I have chosen this location because of it’s distance away from any current services and how long it would take for someone to return back for help if they didn’t have access to tools. On a good day it can take over 30 minutes to get to this trail from Hurricane. If someone got out to the trail and realized they needed access to tools then it would take them at least an hour of driving to get to a place to fix it and then back to the trail. I’ve consulted with the local BLM office and the Over The Edge bike shop who both indicated this project would serve more people than any other trail system in our area.
The repair station is very high quality and would include a stand to use while working on the bike, along with a padded bar to hang the bike and all of the necessary tools to make adjustments and repairs.
In order to fund the project I need to raise at least $1,500. I’ve been told that this trail system can have hundreds of riders a day on it, so the return on investment for us as a biking community could be very high.
If we all work together to make a small donation then I will finalize the details with the BLM and get the station installed with a permanent cement foundation.
