Good Eats Feeding Ministry

Each week school age children are fed at school. Then over the weekend, food insufficiency happens. Food insufficiency occurs for several reasons and it means that kids go hungry over the weekend.

The Good Eats Feeding Ministry intends to provide food for school age children of the California PA Area school District for over the weekend. The bag of food supply will be kid friendly, meaning that the food items will not require significant preparation. Some items are ready to eat, some need to be heated in a microwave, and all are shelf stable.

The ministry was born out of a burden on the heart of a former pastor and current congregation members of the California United Methodist Church,  and will be sustained by the hands and feets of Christ at California United Methodist Church with the California PA area community.  Good Eats is organized by members of severals local churches, organizations, the California School District, CalU, and local organizations. 

Monetary donations are used 100% to purchase food to fill bags for school age students. No monetary donations through GoFundMe are used to pay for overhead. There are no paid staff positions. 

Last year approximiately 71 students received support monthly throughout the school year. Each bag has enough food to provide breakfast, lunch, snack, and dinner.

Every two weeks volunteers come to unpack, unbox, and sort food items. Food is then packed into bags and boxed up for transport to the school.  Each week, bags are distributed to students respectfully.

Ongoing food donations are needed and fundraising for food pruchaising is ongoing. Volunteers are crucial for packing bags and unpacking food items that are acquired in bulk.

Food donations are specific as food must be kid friendly. No preparation challenges.
