Gold Star Monument

Tax deductible
The day before Christmas in 2017, there was a foundry fire  where the Gold Star Mothers Monument Sculpture was being created. The bronze sculpture melted and was completely destroyed. The New Mexico Veterans Memorial Foundation  has stepped in to help raise funds to rebuild this commemorative piece. The sculpture named “The Hands That Held The Child” is designed by New Mexico Sculptor Duke Sundt and will be displayed at the New Mexico Veterans Memorial upon completion. Your generous donation will help the Gold Star Mothers Monument Sculpture become reality.

A Gold Star Mother  is a mother whose child has served and died in the line of duty in the Armed Forces of the United States of America or its Allies; or those who have died as a result of injuries sustained in such service. In recent years, there was a consensus to develop a monument as a tribute to the families as well as provide a designated area for parents to visit and reminiscence. Let us gather together as a community and help these deserving parents get the monument they desire.

Currently, a New Mexico gubernatorial candidate has pledged to donate $1000 and hopes this challenges others in the race to match that amount and donate as well.

To find out more visit the New Mexico Veterans Memorial website or visit the memorial on September 30th for the 1st Annual Gold Star Mother's Day Event . It's FREE to the public.
