Scott's Medical Needs

Most Recent Update on Scott's Condition

We are guardedly optimistic about Scott's progress at this point in time. He has been temporarily taken off dialysis, but his blood and urine must still be monitored.

Scott continues to be weak and on a stringent regiment of medication.  At present, he is unable to pay the medical bills that have accumulated due to his illness.

We are still praying for Scott's continuing recovery. Scott and his family are most appreciative and thank everybody for their support.

Update on Scott’s Condition

Scott and his family are extremely appreciative of the generous outpouring of donations that have been received to aid in his treatment and to provide for his family at this most difficult time in their lives.

Although Scott has been discharged from the hospital, his future is uncertain.  Since Scott’s kidneys are not functioning he is continuing to receive dialysis three days a week. Despite multiple medications, his blood pressure remains dangerously high and he is still unable to walk without assistance. He is totally disabled and unable to work and to provide for his family.  There are still substantial medical bills to be paid as well as to pay for the expenses of daily living.

The family thanks you for your ongoing support and continues to pray for Scott’s improvement.

Scott’s Story

Up until mid-June 2015, Scott was a healthy 43 year old loving husband and devoted father of five beautiful children.  He is a hard worker and was able to provide for his family.  At that time he fell gravely ill and was rushed to the hospital suffering from heart failure, renal failure and internal bleeding.  He is being treated in ICU on life support and is now slowly recovering.  Scott is diagnosed with an autoimmune disease affecting his kidneys.  His treatment involves indefinite long-term dialysis and possibly a kidney transplant. It is still unclear when he will be released from the hospital.

Since Scott lives in Costa Rica, he does have medical insurance there. However, his insurance doesn't cover all of his medical treatments that are necessary to save his life. His medical expenses that the family has incurred so far are over $200,000.  The present and future financial burden for Scott’s continuing medical care on top of his family’s expenses without his income is staggering.

Please consider giving to help Scott and his family to carry them through this difficult time.  Your kindness and compassion will be greatly appreciated by the entire family.
