North Fork Students Heading to GLOBAL FINALS!
The North Fork School Destination Imagination team has returned from State Finals in Sacramento with a 1st place victory! They are heading to the University of Tennessee in Knoxville to compete at Global Finals as the California champions. They need your help in reaching their goal of $16,000 in just six short weeks.
Destination Imagination is a creative problem solving competition that challenges students to think "out of the box", collaborate, develop time management skills, problem solve, and research a variety of subjects. Over twenty countries and many states are represented at Global Finals. It is one of the largest problem solving competitions in the world!
The Lean Green Improv Machine members had to choose 15 genres out of 40 to research (i.e. Comedy, Film Noir, Ghost Story, Reality TV, Spy...) as well as develop their abilities to portray characters from a list of fourteen. They are allowed a 13x13x13 Box-O-Stuff containing props and materials to enhance their THREE 3 minute skits. At the tournament, a genre and a stock character are announced prior to each skit. They have only three minutes to plan and present a skit revolving around a story prompt given to them just before their time begins. For example, a story prompt might be "The Stock Character has lost a shoe, and the theatre is flooded". It is truly amazing to see these young minds at work! On top of all of that, they have to solve an instant challenge with no prep at all.
A donation from you will be used for registration fees, housing, airfare, meals, and transportation.
