On September 19th, 2017, a 7.1 magnitude earthquake rattled central and southern Mexico, leaving in its aftermath a barage of collapsed buildings and damaged infrastructure, multiple homeless and an official death toll at 369.

On the heels of an 8.1 rumble, the strongest in this century a mere week before, which claimed 98 victims, and 32 years to the date of a catastrophic disaster of similar scale which ravaged thousands of lives, this quake has been described as the deadliest phenomenon in decades to hit the country.

Two weeks following the impact, the search for victims trapped under rubble has ended, as all persons known to be missing have been accounted for.

This is a country that is no stranger to seismic "over"activity, yet each event brings renewed shock and horror that Mexican nationals are offered little choice but to confront, a reality some of us may never have to face, beyond Hollywood theatrics.

And so, post the initial frenzy, manifest in an outpouring of much needed emergency aid, international concern and media prominence, the long road to rebuilding, rehabilitation and recovery begins..

Many say this will take years, and considering the severity of infrastructural damage and collapse, ongoing support is needed.

So where do YOU come in? We recognize that several relief-raising campaigns may have emerged immediately following the event, and so many persons may have already contributed to this cause, in some way or another.

If this describes you, the people of the region surely thank you so much! We simply ask for your help to share our link, and spread the word on further. Our aim is to raise awareness of the ongoing need, and create an opportunity for anyone still so inclined, to channel financial support to rehabilitation and recovery efforts on the ground for the medium to long haul.

- Salud uno a uno: medical and psychological consultations for both victims and relief volunteers

- Reconstruyendo la vida: a project on to construct shelters in critically identified zones for persons displaced by the event

- Prevention: going beyond the immediate response and risk assessment to develop projects aimed at mitigating harm by future natural disasters, with a medium to longterm vision.

Finally, what's this "Global Relief Run" about? Run with us alongside the campaign to find out!

Harnessing the positive potential of technology and social media, we aim to leverage the strategic global positioning of our network, spanning nearly 20 countries across all continents (excluding Antarctica), for building awareness on the plight of our regional friends and neighbours.

Free for all to get on board, this will be a charity run across time zones!

We hope through this initiative, to generate extended interest in supporting local relief efforts in Mexico, as much as on the Caribbean island of Dominica, severely impacted by monster Hurricane Maria.
