o'death: band robbed of all assets -
$27,125 of $26,000 goal
Our band, O'DEATH, was robbed outside of Los Angeles after our show at The Echo on Oct 30.
Our van and trailer were stolen, and along with it, all of our equipment, instruments, personal belongings, and merchandise, including hundreds of units of our new album and all of our other records on Vinyl, CD, and some tapes too, along with hundreds of T-shirts, posters, hoodies, flasks, buttons, everything we made for this tour. We also lost a couple of laptops, a camera, and most of us even lost all of the clothes we brought on tour.
A little about our history as a band:
o'death formed in 2003 in upstate New York. In 2005 we began playing all across New York City, and in 2006 we started touring the US in the DIY tradition (as the punx say). In 2007 we released our first studio record with international distribution, and have continued to tour and record ever since, having recorded four full-length albums, various singles, produced 5 music videos, currated showcases and compilations, and played about 600 tour dates across North America and Europe.
We hope to play many more and anticipate extensive recording output in the coming years, but we just lost everything and this is a HUGE SETBACK.
I'm so sorry for the sob-story, but we've literally just lost every asset. For those of you familiar with our music, you may know our sound is cultivated. A lot of our tools are NOT instruments that can be bought in a music shop - they are pieces we found on the side of the road along our journey. They are irreplaceable. So, we will not rebuild - we will start again. We could really use your help right now. We don't want to give up on this tour - we really believe in this album - we've been working on this tour to support this album since before the winter ended, and if we can't finish it, it will feel like 2014 is lost!
We hate to ask for handouts, but we know that a lot of our supporters recognize and understand the path we are on - we don't make much money doing what we do - we do it because connecting with people through music is our lives.
Any help or support you can offer right now would be so much appreciated. Please consider making a donation and/or reposting.
Thanks so much.
We are not accepting donations on this page anymore.

We have returned home to NYC (actually some of the band doesn't live in NYC any more - but those guys are with family, etc).
We are here to regroup, rest up, get some new gear (and perhaps borrow a few pieces), figure out our transportation, and then get back out on the road this weekend. We are hoping to play the last 10 dates of our tour, but some cities will have to be patient as we are not 100% certain where we can pick the tour back up yet.
At this point, we have canceled:
Nov 4 in Albuquerque, NM
Nov 6 in Austin, TX
Nov 7 in Baton Rouge, LA
We are hoping to be back on track to make it to New Orleans on Nov 8, but we may not know for a couple more days if we can make that a reality.
We have every reason to expect we will be playing all of the East Coast dates as of now.
More to come on which shows we will make soon.
In the meantime, we have to thank everyone who's donated and reposted and pledged to raise money through other outlets, and all the folks out West who offered to loan us their back line and or vehicle - that was really amazing and we played our set in Costa Mesa with the help of Eric Keilman, the fantastic rock n' roll collective Church of Sun, and everyone at The Wayfarer who was involved with that show. We felt like a mess, but it really raised our spirits to see people come together with us, and gave us the encouragement to make the next step to get back on track. Thank you thank you thank you!
For our people here in the North East - we are buying some new equipment, and we might have a lead on getting a couple vehicles together. We may need the most help with
1 - getting around here in the city so we can pick up some new merchandise and shop for some gear (ie - if you can give us a ride or loan us a car)
2 - getting around the Eastern US - I think we're close to figuring this out, but if you are in a position to loan us a large vehicle or even a mini van, that may help us get on our way.
3 - We are just going to buy some of the instruments we need because that is the only way to make the sound we make, but if you have any cymbals, or combo amps, or per chance a 16" deep marching snare drum, please direct message us. It's possible we may be looking for a bass head and cabinet too, but I'm not sure. For any of these items, we could be interested in buying instead of borrowing if you know of a good second hand price.
It is going to take us a while to get around to thanking everyone who's helped us out to the extent which you deserve to be thanked. I will say that this whole situation and the outpouring of support, financial and otherwise, that we've received from our community has reassured us that all the work we do is not in vain and that we are in fact on the right path after all.
Thanks again, more news soon.
