On Wednesday, September 20th,  Hurricane Maria made landfall in Puerto Rico with 155mph winds and over 30 inches of rainfall. The Category 4 hurricane was the strongest to hit the island since 1928, leaving my family and the rest of the island without power or water. Communicating with anyone on the island has been near impossible with telephone lines down and zero electricty. And many roads, bridges, and towns have been flooded trapping many in their homes. Although the Hurricane was tough to endure, I am afraid the road to recovery will be the real challenge.

My mother has since been abe to breifly communicate with a few family members, who are not hurt, but remain without power or clean water as millions of others in Puerto Rico are for the foreseeble future. I am currently 1,621 miles away in the South Bronx but I know I can still help those affected by the Hurricane Maria.

My campaign is simple. I will jump rope one minute for every dollar that I am able to raise. If I am able to raise $7, I will jump rope for 7 minutes; if I am able to raise $77 then I will jump rope for 77 minutes. My goal is to raise $100 to buy packs of bottles of water for Puerto Rico by next Friday morning.

A pack of 24 bottles of water normally cost around $15; that works out to be about 6 packs and 144 bottles of clean water for those who need it. The road to recovery won't be easy but any donation will greatly help. Thank you so much!

*****Update: Since beginning this campaign early Saturday morning, 9/23, I have blown past my original $100 goal. I established a second goal of $250 with a promise of 100 pushups to continue the theme of giving Puerto Rico my Power and again we were able to blow past that goal as well. I now want to continue the momentum and increase the goal one last time to $500. If we are able to reach $500, then I will do 150 situps.

This campaign has been beyond successful thanks to all of your support and contributions. I cannot thank you enough.

Upcoming Timeline:
I will close this campaign on Wednesday, 9/27, at 11:59pm and go shopping for supplies on Thursday.
On Friday I drop off all the Materials at El Maestro Cultural Center in the South Bronx.

Thank you!!
