Give Something Bike 2017
Hi everyone – GIVE SOMETHING BIKE is back and we’re gearing up to gift brand new bikes to deserving foster children this 2017 holiday season!
With over 36,000 kids in foster care in Los Angeles, it’s Tweens and Teenagers who are often forgotten around the holidays and often get no gifts at all, since most toy drives tend to gear towards younger kids. Well, with your support, we’re changing that.
Over the last two years, with the help of many incredibly kind donors and sponsors, we put brand new bicycles, helmets and locks in the hands of nearly 250 foster children in Los Angeles, making their holidays magical (see my original GoFundMe campaign here, and last year’s here).
2015 – 110 Bike Packages Gifted
2016 – 125 Bike Packages Gifted
2017 – It’s Up To You!
If you’d like, you can see photos of the kids whose lives we’ve touched right here . Some amazing highlights from last year included:
-- The large number of grateful kids who expressed their excitement that these bikes will give them a way to actually get to and from school, something that is a challenge for many of them – one young girl even sent us a thank you note, including her report card so we could see how high her GPA was :)
-- After a young man named Christian selflessly gave away the bike he received from us to his sister, we surprised this stellar individual with his very own top of the line bike, as well
The 2017 holiday season is coming up fast. With your help, we can bring smiles to even more foster children this year.
Please help us to raise enough to make this holiday season special for at least 126 foster kids… (Of course, I’d love to find a way to help even more if we can!)
With the amazingly kind support once again of Kent International bikes and Pure Cycles, your kind donation of JUST $69 will get each foster child
a (1) BRAND NEW KENT BIKE (either the Thruster Rage or the 2Cool),
(2) a RAZOR HELMET and
(3) a KENT BIKE LOCK.
This donation amount even includes all fees for payment processing, GoFundMe, bike assembly and delivery.
(This is why we start the campaign so early – we need enough time to build and deliver the bikes to the kids before the holidays.)
If you feel so inspired, I ask you to please help bring smiles to these often forgotten foster children this holiday season by clicking the button on this page and making a donation of $69 for each bike package you'd like to donate/sponsor (I’ve done the math way at the bottom if you’d like to donate enough to support more than one child).
Together let’s make a massive difference to bring loads of smiles this holiday and show these kids that people in the world send love and support them in the pursuit of the life they deserve.
Thanks so very much for your kind time and support. And I hope you and everyone you love have your happiest holiday season so far.
P.S. Following your generous donation, the Department of Children and Family Services will make available Tax Deductible Donation Letters to any of you who asks – so if you’d like them to send you one, please email us at email@example.com telling us the name and mailing address they should send the letter to, along with the amount you donated. Thanks so much again!
P.P.S. Check back here for updates with counts as to how many bikes we’ve all purchased for these special kids and to see photos of the lives we’ve touched.

The most impactful story this year came through a grandma who approached me in tears with her grandson and hugged me to say thanks. The boy's dad had run off and left him with his mother, who recently was then picked up by INS and deported, leaving the boy behind. His grandmother had taken over the boy's care and just this week her car stopped working so the boy would've had no way to get to and from school - until he received his bike, that is. Just one example of the impact we're having, not only in the lives of these amazing and resilient children but their care givers as well.
Thank you all so very much for your support and for empowering me to do what I do each year for these very special people. Wishing you and your families and loved ones the very best in all ways this holiday season and a 2018 that blows you away with how incredible it is. Much love to you all.
