Give Cancer the Boot

During my fifteen years as an educator, I've been blessed to have many wonderful colleagues.  One of them has been fighting the battle against colon cancer since 2015.  The doctors thought they'd forced it into remission but last autumn she learned that it had returned. She has been fighting it ever since but the fight is taking an emotional, physical, and financial toll.  She is now on disability and although she does have insurance it is expensive, as are all of the weekly trips to and from the hospital and for doctors appointments. 

A recent diagnosis (as of August 2017), after a months-long round of treatment, has revealed that the mass has not shrunk but grown.  This means her treatment will be prolonged and likely result at some point this year or next in more surgery, in addition to the multiple operations, she has already endured.

My friend is a dedicated, single mother of three children, sister, daughter, teacher, and has been an active member of the Pickerington (Ohio) community. She is also a private person so I am respecting her wishes and not stating her name here at this time.  

Her family, friends, and colleagues love and support her and continue to find ways to try to raise money to help offset the ever-growing cost of her insurance and ongoing cancer treatments.  I am running this Go Fund Me campaign as an additional way to help her and her family cope with these expenses.  I will post any events planned to raise money on her behalf here as well.
