My Studies Abroad

Donation protected
Hey everyone! I'm Giulia, a French-Italian future uni student, and passionate writer . And ever since I was a child, I've always wanted to be a journalist .

After graduating high school with honors in 2015, I took the decision to take a break in my studies during summer 2016 after undergoing personal problems. A few months later, as my job prospects were seemingly unfruitful, I chose to move to England for a while to volunteer in a youth hostel in order to gain some experience. I had never thought that with all of the financial difficulties I had undergone in my life, I could someday too live my dream of living in England. But my dream came true. During my time there, I took a chance and applied to university. I eventually received an offer. Unfortunately, due to financial and personal circumstances, I could not accept the offer.

However, I am an ambitious and perserverant young woman, therefore I don't plan on giving up on my dream. My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2003, with two recurrences, and which has since then evolved into a metastatic cancer, and has thus been bound to quit any professional activity for a few years now. As a result of this situation, in 2009, I received the Prix des Elèves Méritants de la Mairie de Paris (Award of merit to students of the City of Paris). It was in studying, which I had always been fond of, that I found an anchor, a will to go on, to pursue my dreams and my passion, which is to say writing. Before the beginning of the academic year 2016, I decided to find a job and quit my studies to help out my parents financially, as we had been evicted from our social housing two months before. Without any financial help from my family, my dream of studying abroad seemed long gone.

And yet, through the various struggles that my family had endured throughout the years, I was taught by my parents to keep on dreaming, working hard and making sacrifices.

However hard I have to work to get a student loans to pay for the tuition fees, this will not cover the living costs. The money raised would be tremendously helpful for that.

In order to be able to attend university in the UK, I had to defer for one academic year so that I could save money, because I know that I can make it. While I was volunteering in the hostel, I witnessed so many people's dreams come true and acted upon mine. That gave me enormous faith in believing in my dreams, and anyone else's. Living over there has endowed me with such an open-mind and I have gotten to experience so many different experiences, each of them more unique than I could ever think. By taking this course, I would be lucky enough to go through much more of this incredible experiences.

And I will forever be thankful to anyone who helps in whatever way they can, be it by spreading the word about this campaign, or by donating.

And please, don't ever forget that your dreams come true. I've witnessed it first-hand. They do.

With gratitude,

Giulia
