Girl Power (Empowering Girls/Women)

Donation protected
Hello everyone, it's Bulleh Bablitch-Norkeh and I'm back at it again. For those of you who know me know that I am at my happiest when I am helping others. I'm currently living in Liberia, West Africa and I've started a Girls/Women Empowerment Programs called Girl Power. For a one time $50 I am able to take a girl from some of the most horrible situations to giving them hope of helping themselves.

THANK YOU!!

As I write this WE have raised $9,365.00 toward our goal.

I could not have done this without you my friends!
I wanted to update you on some fantastic things that are happening through Girl Power Liberia, without YOU these things could not have happened:

EMPOWERING WOMEN THROUGH WORK:
If you are following us on Facebook you have seen the videos and photos of the women Girl Power Liberia is empowering. How this works: A 50.00 donation sets a women up in business. I myself prescreen all women and determine that they have a need and a will to work. If they do we start out with a onetime donation of 50.00 for their goods to sell. They are able to sell the goods, turn a profit to buy more goods and feed their families. This is incredible! And without you we couldn’t do it. So thank you for considering a donation. It really makes a difference. To date WE have empowered 221 women!!

WHO ARE THESE WOMEN?
In Africa women are often abandon by the men in their life and left to raise their children alone. These women have often suffered the worst types of abuse and live in horrible hopeless situations. They want change, have hope and wish for an opportunity to be empowered to become self-sufficient. They are grateful, joyous and overwhelmed by the 50.00 donation that allows them an opportunity that would otherwise never happen for them.

SCHOOL TUITION FOR THE KIDS:
An education is key to getting the right start in life. In Africa school cost money for tuition, uniforms and school supplies are needed. I saw a need, it broke my heart and I asked my friends of Girl Power to help. And help we did. 31 days we raised enough money to send 71 kids to school Amazing!!  For $100.00 dollars you can send a child to school for the whole year. We hope to increase this number for next year.  $80.00 at half semester in January

EYE PROTECTION:
We have also had funds to give 20 albinos sun glasses /eye protection.

DONATE AND MEET THE WOMAN YOU HAVE HELPED
Some people want to donate anonymously and others like to meet their girl. We have had so many fun and tearful interactions with the women and their donor via face book or skype where you can video chat LIVE and its free on a Wi-Fi connection. Some donors check in for progress reports with me and I can update with photos and more live chat when possible.

CONNECTED:
There is a connection some make with their girl and in some cases babies have waited to be named until the next live chat with their sponsor, siblings have been granted tuition sponsorship through their donor, the stories go on and on and I try to share these via Facebook whenever possible. So follow us

WHO AM I?
Here is a little about my very beautiful but yet complicated story.... I was born in Liberia by a Liberian mother and a peace corps volunteer father, Justice William Bablitch from Wisconsin. My father took me to Wisconsin 1981. Went to Oregon High School and MATC. I met my husband, Dr. Frederick Norkeh in 1990... 26 years later we have 3 daughters. I worked as a mortgage banker for 16 years. Spent 13 great years with Wells Fargo Home mortgage. Back in 2006, the president of Liberia, (first female president in Africa) called on my husband to come to Liberia and help with the new government after - 14 years of civil war. He came and I stayed back in the states with the kids. After a few years of being apart, I could no longer handle the space between us... in 2009, I sold our house and moved to Liberia, Africa!
I've been helping Girls and women who are in the most hopeless situation over the years. I help to empower them by giving them goods to sell. The goods are 100 percent for them free of charge with no strings attached. The only requirement is that they have to check in with me monthly with their progress. This project has grown and gotten so successful that I have more demand than what my pocket can produce. That's when I started asking my friends and family to please join me. This is very grass roots... I am a total amateur at this... but maybe that's why God put me here. Many times I've wondered what in the hell am I doing here so far from my children and all of the comforts of America, but It's all starting to make sense... I have the advantage of growing up in America and having some great friends and family there. Also, with my Liberian connection and being able to speak their language, the women open up to me easier. Best of both worlds.

WHAT ARE WE WORKING ON NOW?
In addition to the women who continue to hear about Girl Power and its success and find me to get on the list for empowerment goods, we are also working on a couple campaigns below:

JANUARY SCHOOL FUND DRIVE
Second semester school enrollement is happening in January and word is out about Girl Power and the kids we have helped. We are raising funds for second sememster which includes backpacks, uniforms and tuition for the remaining school year.  For $80.00 a child can finish out the school year with his/her peers.  We hope you can join us in empowering through education.

FILL THE BOX
We have an ongoing donation box with drop off in Oregon, WI. This box is filled with donations that are on our wish list. These items include queen size flat sheets, soccer balls and equipment, non-battery toys, working laptops, back packs, solar lights, undergarments for women, socks for older boys up to size 10, and gently used tennis shoes and watches. It costs us 350.00 to sponsor the shipping costs of a box heading to Liberia. We have a box sponsored now and its getting full. The box is HUGE, we are ready for another sponsor!
