Ginger's Rattlesnake Bite Recovery

A couple of days ago while Betsy was away on a research trip for her work, our little friend Ginger, the most loving sweet rat terrior you ever met, found herself on the wrong side of a rattlesnake.  While protecting the chickens in the coop, she ended up with fang marks on her face below her right eye.  Her family was dog-sitting and they quickly rushed her to the doggy ER.  She  started convulsions and we were not sure if she was going to make it through the night, but thanks to a dose of antivenin, (lots of doggy morphine), and the careful monitoring of the vets at Advanced Veterinary Specialists, she has lived to tell the tale and is recovering nicely.  She is getting back to her old sweet self a little more every day.  She is a real trooper and we are so glad she pulled through!  Especially Betsy and Adrien.  Saving her life has created a sizable bill, all too common of a tale for dogs here in Santa Barbara, some people have even been faced with the unfortunate reality that they can’t afford to pay for the antivenin.   We thank you for your prayers and support.  Any extra funds that go beyond the bill will be donated to familes who are unable to pay for antivenin.
