Gina Mammone's Stroke Recovery

Our mother, sister,  daughter and friend Gina Mammone suffered a large debilitating stroke to her Right Middle Cerebral Artery Sunday October 14, 2018. Neurology at Glens Falls Hospital decided since it happened in her sleep that the emergency clot busting medicine would not be administered because of the possibility of too much time passing. We got her transferred to Albany Medical for a chance at emergency clot extraction and stent, but again the neurosurgeons felt too much time had passed and it would be a great risk for a brain bleed. 
GOOD NEWS- her cognition remains. Humor remains. Expression remains. Speech is only slightly slurred (temporarily hopefully) 
BAD NEWS- permanent deficits can't be known for an average of 3 months but as of now her left leg has some feeling and some weak muscle movt. Her left arm doesn't have either movt or feeling at this time. Her swallowing is impaired and she has a feeding tube placed down her nose.(TUBE IS OUT!) and some left side visual field loss in both eyes.

She will be at a Albany Med for 1-2 weeks on a blood thinner drip while deficits are monitored daily for improvements & swallowing is worked on and tested.  She will then go to Acute Care rehab at Glens Falls Hospital for 2-3 months to work on independence again as the goal.  Here she will work 3-4 hrs a day with rehab specialists (PT, OT, Speech, etc)

I was asked to put together a Fundraiser like this because as you can imagine waiting periods are months, co pays add up, and bills do not stop. She most likely will not return to work after such a large stroke. This fundraiser will be used to sustain her high level of care and her chance at independence until the waiting periods have been met for financial assistance.
