Gil's Challenge

On the evening of July 9th, 2019, our beloved casting director, friend, and brother Gilbert Espinoza passed away.  This page was originally set up to help Gil and his family with his medical expenses, and now also including to be used to help relieve the family with funeral expenses. It’s a terrible reality we all have to live with now but we appreciate all the support from friends and family that have already been donated. Gil is forever our guardian angel. He touched so many lives throughout the years,  always going above and beyond and to make sure everyone was taken care of.  Gil was the true definition of a giver. 

He has not only touched the lives of his family and friends, but thousands of others as a casting director in Los Angeles.  Gil worked over 17 years with one of the premier background casting agencies in the country.  His credits were vast, including over 300 episodes of the popular medical drama "Grey's Anatomy."  Gil was just as comfortable behind the scenes doing casting, coordinating on set, and working hands-on with production as well his experience as an actor in front of the camera and on the silver screen.  Many people have really relied upon hearing from him daily throughout the past several years  to give them incredible opportunities on screen.  He was highly respected and appreciated  in the film and television industry. 

When Gil met Jeff Olan on the streets of East L.A. in 1992 when Jeff was involved with casting the feature film "American Me," Gil approached him to work on the film in any capacity as he wanted to change his life to get out of the gangs of East L.A.  He not only did that, but in ten-folds.  Gil became very close with the director of the film, Edward James Olmos, and ended up touring schools in the Los Angeles area speaking to the youth of tomorrow.  He was such an inspiration to so many. 

Gil's family are very thankful for the outpour of love and for those who have taken the time to check-in.  

Any donation amount will be very much appreciated and helpful towards helping the family with medical and funeral expenses.  All donations will go 100% toward Gil's beneficiaries - his sisters Lupe Wilson and Isabel Espinoza Campa, to help ease the financial burden Gil's family are facing.
