Gianna's Journey

On March 30th, Genna and Stefano received news that no parents should ever have to hear. Their daughter, Gianna, was diagnosed with Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis, a rare disease in the cancer family, and she needs to undergo several more tests and chemotherapy treatment.
After months of doctors visits, procedures, and surgeries, they still had unanswered questions as to why their daughter's ear was bleeding with no signs of an infection. When routine CBC tests came back showing severe anemia, they were sent to a hematologist for further testing. The doctor quickly picked up on other symptoms that presented themselves as minor issues, but in fact were all part of LCH.
After another biopsy, extensive blood tests, and a CT scan, the results were conclusive that Gianna had LCH.
Although they are thankful for answers, Gianna and the Tanfulla family have a long journey ahead with chemotherapy. I understand the treatment may last as long as a year.
