In a rural township in South Africa, voices are being lifted not in agony, but in song.  In that township, an endeavor called the Ndlovu Community Care Group combines healthcare, childcare, job training, recreation, and MUSIC to dramatically improve the lives of the people living there.  The story of that effort is told by the musicians of the Ndlovu Youth Choir.

The Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra has launched a GOFUNDME campaign because we believe in what these kids represent, we believe that their powerful voices should be shared in the United States, and we believe that we need your help to get them here so that they can share their gifts and the message of progress through community uplift.

The Ndlovu Care Group approaches wellness via a Rural Advancement Plan – they don’t just treat illnesses, they proactively lift up the community and they do so by addressing preventative health needs, childcare, HIV/AIDS research, workplace wellness, and community development.  The NCG site at the Elansdoorn Township in South Africa includes: a remarkable clinic with a dedicated HIV monitoring laboratory, a maternity hospital, digitalized X-ray, recreational facilities, an amphitheater with accompanying music academy, preschools, daycare facilities, water and waste projects, and entrepreneurial efforts.

OBCO is planning to bring the Ndlovu Youth Choir to the Prince William County/Washington, DC area during the last week of April, 2015 – this will be their first time in the United States.  They will be performing small concerts in schools, local hospitals, and public spaces.  We will host a forum to discuss the amazing work being done by the Ndlovu Care Group.  And the whole thing will culminate in a concert during the evening of Saturday, May 2nd.

With your financial support, we can get them here.  Old Bridge Chamber Orchestra’s goal is to raise $70,000 which will cover the Choir's airfare, accommodations, food, and transportation for the week-long project.  It also will cover the nominal expenses affiliated with the concert.  All proceeds above what is necessary to cover the event's expenses will go directly to the Ndlovu Care Group to help fund their excellent work.  OBCO is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and your donation is deductible as authorized by law.

At a time when so many are in a panic about the state of healthcare in Africa, you and I, if we combine our pennies, can showcase an organization that is a force for positive change in the region.  Join us in making a contribution today and inviting your family and friends to do the same.  Thank you for your support!
