Hi! I hope you enjoyed our new rehearsal video we shot for the Summer production at this years Edinburgh fringe. We originally performed the show in our Summer term 2017 at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts and our amazing creative team are all coming back to help make this new production of Spring Awakening!
What is 'Spring Awakening'?
'Spring Awakening' is a Tony Award winning musical (Best New Musical among many others)
that was adapted from a play of the same name. The musical is a coming of age story exploring the difficulties we face as we transition from child to adult; struggling with teenage angst, sexuality, finding your voice.
Who are we?
We (the cast) are soon to be graduates from Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, a drama school in London. A phenomenal creative team, all of which worked on our original production, joins us:
· International Director Samuel Harjanne, A Guildford School of Acting alumnus whose theatre credits include 'Les Miserables' (Estonia, 2017), 'Spring Awakening' (Finland, 2017) and he is currently in rehearsals for a brand new production of Billy Elliot in Finland.
· Choreographer Jane McMurtrie who is currently Associate Choreographer 'The Bodyguard' (Worldwide), Associate Choreographer 'The Producers' (International Tour 2017-18). Other choreography credits include 'Legally Blonde', 'Spring Awakening', 'Violet: The Musical', 'Carrie: The Musical', '9 to 5: The Musical'.
· Musical Director Stuart Morley whose credits include 'We Will Rock You' (London), 'Elf: The Musical' (London/Irish Premiere), 'Big' (UK/Irish premiere), 'Brian May and Kerry Ellis’s Anthems' (Royal Albert Hall) he has also worked as Musical Supervisor on 'Eugenius' (The Other Palace) and is currently Associate Musical Director of 'Wicked' (London)
Why we need your help?
There are many, many expenses involved when taking a show to the fringe; costs for registration, performance rights, venue hire, advertising and many more. Whilst we are arranging other fundraisers we really need your help to give this beautiful show a new life in Edinburgh. Any help you can give would be enormously appreciated and please see below the various rewards we are able to offer.
