Get Mary to the U.S. Open

Mary Stoiana is a 16-year-old rising tennis star from Connecticut with a dream to play professionally. This dream goes all the way back to when she was only 4 years old, just learning to play tennis. As she grew up, she continued to work at this goal, training and competing in local tournaments with success and disappointments. Around her freshman year, Mary began to truly put her mind to this dream, training with maximum intention and focus. After two years of hard work dotted with setbacks, we finally began to see results. Mary’s game exploded and she has seen great success in the past couple of months in several National Tournaments, winning 19 matches while only losing 3, and jumping nearly 300 ranks in the Girls’ 18 Singles National Standing List. Her team (which consists of her parents, coach, and brother) has put in a lot of time and effort to make these tournaments possible, and Mary fights incredibly hard during every point to make this effort count. Now, Mary has applied and been selected to compete in the USTA Billie Jean King Girls 18 National Championships in San Diego, California, and the winner of this tournament will be automatically entered into the 2019 US Open. (Yes, the US Open.)  Between travel (airfare, hotel, car rental), equipment, food, and the time commitment for Mary’s working parents, the expenses for these types of tournaments are too much for us to cover alone. That’s why we are creating this GoFundMe: to gain the financial ability to send Mary to San Diego and give her the opportunity of a lifetime. Seeing Mary’s name in the US Open draw alongside players she’s looked up to her whole life, watching her compete on the same court as them, would be a dream come true for us all.
