Get Josh To The Carnival!!

Lets Help Josh Or JVR To His School Mates  (TSS).

In 1992 one month before his 18th birthday, Josh Van Reenen had a horrific motor vehicle accident, and  after getting infections in hospital, it has left him fully paralysed , not even able to scratch his nose, unable to feed himself, or move in any way.  His family and carers have been looking after him ever since.

Josh is generally a very happy guy and loves to follow all sports, particularly enjoys going to watch cricket, union and league, especially his team, the Gold Coast Titans!  He also enjoys going to live shows in Brisbane and on the Gold Coast, and meeting up with his friends.

Josh was given a van 20 years ago and at the time he said that it was like getting his legs back as he was then able to get out and about!!

Unfortunately, the van is no longer suitable for Josh, as it is quite a rough ride and causes him a lot of pain in his back and neck and this has now restricted him from going to far.  Also to get Josh into the van, he has to be tipped back in his wheelchair, which also his neck and back, as the opening into the van is not big enough to get Josh in whilst sitting upright in his wheelchair.

It has also become harder for his parents to take Josh out as they have to climb up onto and off the hoist, which is about 3/4 meter off the ground, while holding onto Josh in his wheelchair.  And his parents are not getting any younger.  This unfortunately also restricts Josh from going out as much.

We are hoping to raise $85,000  to buy him a new Kia Carnival wagon, and to have it modified into a wheelchair vehicle (cost of Kia Carnival is around $50,000 and the cost of the modifications are round $35,000). With this vehicle and modifications it will do away with the hoist, as it has a ramp into the vehicle, and this will enable his parents to just push Josh in, no more climbing up 3/4 meter off the ground!!!

Also with the Kia Carnival Josh is closer to the diver, giving easier communication between the two.  The Kia Carnival also allows Josh to be able to see out of the windows, which he is unable to do at present with the van.  With the Kia Carnival it is a much smooth ride for Josh and thus not causing him any pain in his back or neck.

Any assistance in helping to raise the funding would be greatly appreciated by all.

Thank you.
