Help get Jamie to her sick Brother

The Story 

Jamie Kessinger is one of those people who you meet once and feel as though you are immediately best friends. Her smile lights up a room and in the Springfield area, she doesn't know a stranger. She is a barber at Hudson / Hawk by day and a wife and mom of 5 by night. And when she's not at work or home, she is usually involved in serving the community in one way or another. 




But over the last several months Jamie has faced a difficult situation that has been unknown to most. 

Jamie's older brother, Lucas, was suddenly diagnosed with mouth and throat cancer 4 months ago. Since being diagnosed, he has had a long and difficult road - all of which has been endured away from most of his family. Just last month Lucas experienced a sudden and dangerous difficulty in swallowing, lost 50lbs due to his inability to eat or drink and endured a 4-week hospital stay while the doctors worked on solutions and treatment. Lucas has since improved but his long-term prognosis is still unsure. 




Throughout this process, Jamie has remained in close communication with her brother and family and has sought ways of traveling to Belfast to be with him during this arduous process, but between expensive flights, a busy work schedule and taking care of her family, the options to visit and help take care of her brother have been all but absent. 

That's where you and I come in. 



Here's how We can Help

It's December and we're coming up quickly on Christmas.

Here's the plan ... 

We want to surprise Jamie on Christmas morning with an all-expenses-paid trip to Belfast to visit her brother and his family!

The process is already well on its way.

Thad Forrester of Hudson Hawk Barber and Shop has gladly agreed to provide Jamie the time off along with additional assistance, and Jamie's Husband Jeff is working with Lucas and his family to arrange all the travel necessities.

The goal now is to raise enough money to cover 4 simple things:

    • A Round-trip airline ticket, 
    • a rental car,
    • food and travel expenses,
    • and a babysitter for while Jamie is away.

And the good news? 

It's doable! 



The Details

The total cost of these expenditures is $3000, and that covers everything! And additional funds raised will be given to Lucas' family to help cover the mounting medical expenses. 

If just 300 people were willing to give $10, we could achieve this amazing Christmas surprise for Jamie.

Or if 120 people were able to give $25 each, we could bless Jamie and her family in a time of need. 

There are also other ways of helping!

If you work for an airline or travel agency and could help us find great deals on the travel expenses, or would like to donate airline miles or babysitting time, every little bit helps. 

We know that finances are tight during the holidays and room for extra is rarely available, but whether $5 or $500, we would love to have your support in blessing Jamie and her family this Christmas! 



The Best Part ... 

If you partner with us as a community and we are able to raise enough to send Jamie, we will film Jamie receiving the amazing surprise gift on Christmas morning and allow all of you to see it. 


The Clock is Ticking 

We're up against the clock now with Christmas barreling towards us, and so we've kept this fundraiser short. We will have only two weeks to raise the full amount in order to make this project a reality. 

Every single penny donated will go towards getting Jamie to Belfast, and everything left over will go towards Lucas' medical bills.
