Hi I married a lovely Fijian man in 2014 and we now share our home with our awesome 9 year old neice also from Fiji. Not only did I gain an already made family but also close family, extended family and friends in SaSa Village. We go back to Fiji whenever we can and try to support our family as much as we can from Australia. Each time we travel back to Fiji we make sure we take cases full of goods that are needed for Family and Friends in our Village.
This year we are travelling back on Monday the 10th of July and we have 8 cases full of goods that have been donated and collected over the last year or so, especially since Cyclone Winston devestated Fiji. Our neice who has only been in Australia with us permantly since February 2016 has settled into and is doing well at our local school. Last year, after Cyclone Winston, the children in her class donated care packages for the children affected by the cyclone in SaSa Village. These donations were meant to go last year but unfortunately the person assigned to take them was unable to do so. They have been waiting patiently for these goods to be delivered and we decided we would make them a priority to take with us on our trip back this year.
Not only will the children effected by Cyclone WInston benefit from these great donations but we estimate that much needed shoes, clothes, books, school materials, sanitary items and much more will reach many in need in SaSa Village. These people have strength and love in abundance and the welcome they give and the generosity they share in very poor circumstances is humbling. I will endevour to make sure those most in need in Sasa Village will recieve these donations.
Unfortunately we booked our flights late last year through an agent and we fly Adelaide to Sydney with Virgin and Syney to Nadi with Fiji Airways. Over the last month or so I have been trying and trying to arrange to get these goods over to Fiji with us. There have been some kind guestures such as Fiji AIrways waivering the fee for 3 cases from Sydney to Nadi and a couple of kind donations from friends but that leaves us still with an all up fee of around $800 to get these cases over to the people who need them.
Only tonight I have finally been given the exact cost of taking these donations with us. Usually we can take an additional bag for $55 ea but because of our bookings were done through an agent the airlines will not just add additional bags and therefore that is why the costs for us are around $800. That includes all the costs associated with getting all additional cases from Port Elliot South Australia to SaSa Village, Ba Fiji. Luckily we do not need much for ourselves on our trip so our own flight/purchased bags will mostly also be full of donations so thats 8 bags...184kg of goods!
I am so looking forward to seeing the faces of each and every child and adult who will benefit from this. Can you please donate and help make this happen. If we could afford to we would cover the costs ourselves but it is not feasible for us to do so at this time therefore we would greatly appreciate any support you can give us and help us make the lives of others just a little easier.
This is quite urgent due to the timing of our flights leaving on Monday 10th July.... only 4 more sleeps and we really need to have all cases booked in by . SUNDAY. I am so grateful you have read this far and even more so if you can find it in your heart to help us help others.
