BRANDONS MISSION TO WALK AGAIN

Donation protected
Ladies, and Gentleman, my name is Brandon Adams a 26 year old man born and raised in Fort McMurray, Alberta, Father to a beautiful 1.5yr old daughter, fiancé
to Danielle Morrison, and this is my story.

Oct. 19th, 2014 is a day that I will never forget.  It was a beautiful fall afternoon, that myself, fiancé
, and brother in law decided to enjoy by going out for a quad ride and a fire.  We had a great time enjoying the trails I have grown up riding, however on the way back home, about 2km away from my house I ended up flipping the quad I was riding, and the quad itself ended up "folding me in half".  I have grown up on all kinds of machines, and "gettin knocked off the horse" is something I'm no stranger to.  However this time when I tried to get up, and dust myself off I knew it wasn't good.  As I'm trying to move my legs, they aren't budging, and I'm feeling pain in my back like ive never felt before.  A helicopter was called for me when the first responders came, and assessed my situation.  After some x-rays, and mri's medical staff found out that I had punctured a lung, broken 7 ribs, and broken my back at T11-T12 completely severing my spinal cord.

It didnt take them long, to find out how serious the break was and deliver the news that nobody, let alone a 24 year old father to be wants to hear.

"Mr. Adams, I am sorry to say that you will never walk again".

Life hasnt been the same since that day.  I am greatful that I am still here, and for all the friends and family that have been by my side, however every day is still a struggle not being able to stand on my own two feet.  Its funny the things we all take for granted.  What I would give to be able to just "jump in" my vehicle, rather then waiting for a seat lift to come down to my level, lift me up, and throw my wheelchair in my truck.  And not to mention the finacial burdon that comes with needing all this medical equipment, home renos, wheelchairs ect, all while not working.

Fast forward to tuesday, January 24th, 2017.  I have been presented with a HUGE opportunity to get me back on my feet, quite literally.  I have been accepted into a program offered in Bangkok, Thailand that incorporates stem cell treatments, an implanted epidural stimulation device, and extensive rehab that has proven to be the biggest medical breakthrough for spinal cord injury patients to date.  What this device does is basically bridge the gap in my spinal cord that currently isnt allowing my brain to "talk" to my lower extremities, and allows voluntary movement of my legs when turned on.  Now I am realistic in what is possible, and don't think I will ever be running marathons by any means, but even just being able to stand on my own two feet at my wedding would mean the world to my fiance, and I.  Any slight imrovement would make my day to day quality of life unbelievably better.  Words simply can't describe what I would give to have the ability to do half of the things that my father did with me, with my own daughter as she grows up.

The only thing holding me back now is the funding for the treatment.  The base price for the treatment, and stay in the hospital alone is 94, 000 US Dollars.  This works out to roughly $123,000 Canadian, and does not include flights for us, or accommodations for my fiance or daughter.  I know economically this is not a good time to be asking anyone for anything, as every family seems to be feeling the tough times that have fallen on us.  Not to mention the Wildfire that has gone through our community and affected so many finacially, physically or emotionally. But any dollar donated, puts myself, and my family one step closer to seeing me back on my feet!  If you'd like to help out but simply cant afford to, I would appreciate even just a share of this post on facebook!

Thank you all for your time, and reading my story, and a HUGE thanks for all those who decide to donate!

I cant wait to prove the Doctors wrong who told me that I would never walk again !
