Geri's Air Ambulance

Donation protected
Well, as most people know from facebook posts and updates: Geri went in for a routine surgery at the beginning of December, and ended up in the ICU four days later.  The culprit: a perforated bowel that had turned septic.  Geri spent the next four weeks in a medically induced coma in the ICU, and then on January 7th...almost a month to the day that she went into the ICU she finally woke up.  The family was ecstactic!

Anyone who knows Geri knows it was such a relief to see her mouthing swear words at Dave, calling Senators names during their confirmation hearings, and rolling her eyes and making faces in general annoyance. She continues to make progress every day, and the family is so grateful for all the love and support friends have offered.

In November, Dave and Geri made plans to move to Dallas to be closer to their oldest daughter Casey and her husband, but this medical incident has caused major hiccups with that.  Dave is supposed to start at his new job on January 25th, but may need to push it back for a third time unless we can get Geri to transfer to a Dallas hospital via air ambulance. Problem is - the air ambulance is not covered by insurance and is $11,000.  Casey and her husband are helping with the move - Dave and Geri need to be out of their Nashville apartment by the 31st - but getting Geri down to Dallas is the trick.  Her doctor won't sign off on ground travel due to her still not being strong enough...it would put too much stress on her body to be in an ambulance for 9+ hours.  The only way he will approve her transport is via air ambulance.  Arrangements have been made for her travel to happen this Tuesday the 24th, and this morning (the 20th) we were informed the payment is due Monday the 23rd.  So, we have set up this page to humbly ask for assistance in getting mom back to Texas.

Any help would be appreciated more than you know...and if you can't help we thank you greatly for all of the thoughts and prayers you have already given.  We believe she is up again because she is a fighter with such a strong supportive network of friends - both digital and personal.  This is the last hurdle to her recovery, and we hope to have her back in the Lone Star State soon.
