Op 24 oktober 2019 is een nachtmerrie werkelijkheid geworden. De 5-jarige Brandon, de oudste zoon van mijn broer, werd aangereden door een bestelbusje en overleed… Dit gebeurde notabene voor de deur van het huis waar hij woonde met zijn ouders en vier broertjes en zussen.
Sindsdien staat het leven van mijn broer, mijn schoonzus en hun kinderen op z’n kop. Hoe ga je om met dit immens grote verlies? Hoe houd je jezelf staande? Hoe troost je de andere kinderen nu hun broer(tje) er niet meer is? Hoe pak je jouw leven weer op? Zij hebben het zo ongelofelijk moeilijk…
Het is een nachtmerrie en een groot gemis….
Zij zijn allen, volledig getraumatiseerd…
Niemand kan hun pijn verzachten, niemand kan de tijd terugdraaien, niemand kan Brandon terugbrengen… Het laatste waar je in een periode als deze op zit te wachten, is het financiële plaatje die voortvloeit uit het overlijden van je kind en het juridisch proces wat hierbij komt kijken.
Graag zou ik, samen met jullie, hen hierin willen ontlasten. Zij hebben al zoveel aan hun hoofd en ervaren zoveel pijn! Zij zouden zich geen zorgen moeten maken om de kosten van het juridisch proces die nu (deels) voor eigen rekening komen.
Om die reden doe ik deze oproep aan een ieder die het verhaal heeft gehoord, een ieder wiens hart dit heeft geraakt, een ieder die ontdaan is door deze situatie, een ieder die meeleeft met het gezin van Brandon… Zouden jullie de ouders van Brandon willen helpen middels een financiële bijdrage, zodat zijn alle steun en liefde mogen ontvangen en wij hen kunnen ontlasten in de kosten van het juridisch proces?
Als familie willen wij gerechtigheid voor Brandon. Brandon heeft dit niet verdiend… Hij was zo’n geliefd jongetje. Altijd vrolijk, blij en energiek. Hij was gek op voetbal en droomde om bij Feyenoord te spelen.
Het nieuws sloeg in als een bom nadat bleek dat de bestuurder van het bestelbusje onder invloed bleek te zijn van verdovende middelen. Hopelijk kunnen wij middels een juridisch proces gerechtigheid krijgen voor Brandon zodat mede daardoor een ander kind kan worden gered.
Dat is Brandon’s legacy.

Justice for Brandon Varela Ramos On October 24th 2019 a nightmare became reality. The 5-year-old son, the oldest son of my brother, got hit by a delivery van and unfortunately he passed away. This happened in front of the door of his home, where he lived with his parents and his four brothers and sisters.
Since that day the lives of my brother, my sister-in-law and their kids has been upside down. How do you deal with this immense loss? How do you carry yourself? How do you comfort the other kids now that their brother is gone? How do you pick up your life again?
They’re having an extremely hard time… It’s a nightmare and a big loss…
They’re all completely traumatized…
No one can soften their pain, no one can turn back time, no one can bring back Brandon… The last thing you want to think about in a period like this, is the financial part that comes with the passing of your child and its legal process.
With your help I would like to unburden them as much as possible. They already have so much to deal with and they are in so much pain! They shouldn’t be worrying about the costs of the legal process, which (for a part) is for their own account.
Therefor I am asking every person that heard the story, every person who’s heart has been touched, every person who’s shocked by the situation, every person that feels for the family of Brandon…. I would like to ask you if you could help by supporting them financially, so they can receive all the love and support and we can help them in unburdening with the costs of the legal process.
As a family, we want justice for Brandon. Brandon did not deserve this…. He was such a loving kid. Always happy and energetic. He loved to play soccer and dreamed of playing at his favorite soccer team Feyenoord.
It came as a big shock when we discovered that the driver was driving under influence. We hope that with a judicial process we can get justice for Brandon and that -partly because of that- another kid can be saved.
That is Brandon’s legacy.

Justiça para Brandon Varela Ramos No dia 24 de Outubro 2019 o pior pesadelo tornou-se realidade. Brandon, o filho mais velho do meu irmão, com apenas 5 anos de idade foi atropelado por um carrinha e faleceu.... Isto aconteceu em frente da porta da sua casa, onde ele morava com os seus pais en 4 irmãos.
A partir deste momento o mundo desta familia ficou do avesso. Como é possivél lidar com tanta dor? De onde tiras força para seguir em frente? Como é que irás consolar as irmãs e os irmãos mais novos que sentem falta do Brandon? Como é que conseguiremos seguir em frente com as nossas vidas?
O sofrimento desta familia é enorme... É um verdadeiro pesadelo e um vazio que não dá para encher. A familia está toda traumatizada.
Ninguém consegue tirar-lhes a dor, ninguém consegue voltar atrás no tempo para trazer o Brandon de volta... Neste momente a familia tem que lidar com os custos do funeral e tambem com os custos juridicos.
Esta familia está em luto por seu filho e irmão. Eles já têm tanta dor, e eu, com a vossa ajuda, gostaria de os ajudar a pagar as contas, porque eles não têm meios financeiros.
Por esta razão peço a todos que ouviram e leram as noticias acerca do Brandon, peço a todas as pessoas que lhes tocou no coração, a todos que têm simpatias com esta familia... Voçês podem ajudar com uma doação? Para que esta familia sinta sua compaixão e apoio para que eles assim possam estar em paz com esta situação, sem preocupações com os custos juridicos?
Nós queremos justiça para o Brandon. Nem ele, nem ninguém merecia isto... Brandon era um menino querido e feliz, com muita alegria e muita energia, adorava jogar futebol e sonhava jogar no seu clube favorito, o Feyenoord de Rotterdam.
Quando recebemos as notícias de que o condutor estava influenciado de drogas no momento do acidente, ficamos em choque e com os nossos corações ainda mais quebrados. Temos fé que vamos conseguir justiça para o Brandon através de um processo jurídico. Não so para ele, mas também para outras crianças que venham a sofrer com este tipo de situações.
Isto é a herança do Brandon.

Sindsdien staat het leven van mijn broer, mijn schoonzus en hun kinderen op z’n kop. Hoe ga je om met dit immens grote verlies? Hoe houd je jezelf staande? Hoe troost je de andere kinderen nu hun broer(tje) er niet meer is? Hoe pak je jouw leven weer op? Zij hebben het zo ongelofelijk moeilijk… Het is een nachtmerrie en een groot gemis….

Graag zou ik, samen met jullie, hen hierin willen ontlasten. Zij hebben al zoveel aan hun hoofd en ervaren zoveel pijn! Zij zouden zich geen zorgen moeten maken om de kosten van het juridisch proces die nu (deels) voor eigen rekening komen.
