My late wife, Fran Gebhart, and I ( Gregory Howard Gebhart) struggled with our bipolar disorders for most of our lives. Fran had stage 4 colon cancer for 14 years and passed away on May 17th 2016. But not before being led to Christ by our friend, Colleen Schlutter. I was with her when she passed away shortly afterward.

She was sleeping and a volunteer from hospice showed up at the around-the-clock nursing facility where Fran was being cared for, saying "I have come to play harp for Frances Gebhart." I said, "This is my wife, Fran Gebhart." The volunteer asked if she could play hymns like "Amazing Grace" and "Ave Maria". I said "yes" and held Fran's hand. 20 minutes later Fran stopped breathing and released her grip. She had been played into heaven by harp.

I had to then move quickly. I had to sell our house in Webster Groves, Missouri. I found a Realtor, Jeanette Bell, who had experience with rehabs. She would have to show the house and supervise repairs since I could not. It turns out that my kidneys had begun to fail twenty years earlier from the Lithium Had been taking for my bipolar disorder, but I needed to be supported on a hemodialysis machine starting in July 2016. I had end stage kidney disease.

The house needed major major sewer repairs that Jeanette found a contractor to perform without digging through the kitchen and utility room floors. Then a series of water leaks ruined all of our house's hardwood floors. Jeanette found a plumber who detected the leaks below the slab. She found a contractor who repaired the leaks and another who replaced the hardwood floors.

Before we could sell the house, my attorney, Mike Doyel needed to conclude Fran's and my Chapter 13 bankruptcy. Fran and I had run up $50,000 in credit card debts due to our manic bouts.

After the repairs, I made $5,000 selling the house. I claimed the repairs on my Safeco Homeowner's Insurance. They initially denied all claims. I politely requested that they reconsider. They did, repaying $15,000.

I then had another manic swing and began writing which I tend to do when manic. I wrote three children's books, "Bob on the Job" (Fran's idea), "CAT is Where it's At," and "Deere is Right Here!" In a matter of three months. I paid $575 a piece for KIRKUS Reviews to review them. The reviews were good. I wrote "Favorite King James Bible Passages" and just finished "Selected King James Bible Verses" with Rick Graul MD who is a member of my church, Messiah Lutheran. I paid to veview the former, and it was a bad review. I paid $3000 to advertise the "Bob on the Job" in KIRKUS Review Magazine. There were about 25 copies of it sold.

I also paid $1500 to get Fran's and my memoir, "2 Lives in 3 Acts" edited and it greatly improved it. I paid $425 to get KIRKUS to review it. The review was good. I paid $5000 to have it advertised in July in KIRKUS Review magazine.  Few sales so far.

I had had to struggle with mounting medicine costs. Since I sold the house I had to move into a rental apartment and begin getting my medicine through DaVita Rx at my DaVita Dialysis Center. It cost me $300 for a one month supply for my psych meds: Lexapro, Invega, and Seraquel. It costs me $198 a month for my Symbacort inhaler for my asthma.

I also could not not walk very far because of the dialysis so I had to get groceries delivered to my apartment costing about $120 a week. I had to pay $70 each time the apartment needs cleaned. In short, I went through my savings hoping that Fran and my Books would sell well. But they didn't.
