Georgina's Breast Cancer Treatment

We need your help - URGENTLY !
If you are able to assist, please do.

This is for Georgina Cook, a 30 year old Mum of 3 beautiful young children from Thundersley, Essex.
Who found a lump in her breast on 28th January 2016, and has been struggling through life since.

Hubby Carl and the family are too proud to ask for help, but running a family, a business, a home is stressful enough, but doing it when your sick is something else. Please read on to see why your support is so essential now at this crucial stage.

On the 2nd February Georgina went to Southend Hospital for an ultrasound, a mammogram and a biopsy.   It was confirmed by the biopsy it was stage 3 breast cancer, HER2 positive and BRCA1 positive.

On 23rd February Georgina started EC chemotherapy x 4 sessions followed by Paclitaxel chemotherapy x 6 sessions. Within this time she started to loose her hair so on 12th March had it all shaved off and raise money for cancer research along the way.

After months of having the chemo a scan had showed the chemotherapy had not worked well enough so on the 5th September Georgina underwent a mastectomy and 14 lymph nodes taken away (9 out of the 14 were cancerous ).

5 weeks after having surgery she was taken into hospital with streptococcal and septicaemia, fighting for life for 11 days Georgina  finally pulled through. Within this time the nodes in her neck had swollen, after having another scan it showed the cancer was now also in her lymph nodes in her neck. Another biopsy confirmed this.

So once again Georgina had to re-start chemotherapy. This time on x 6 sessions of Gemciteabine and Carboplatin.

In April Georgina started Radiotherapy. 6 weeks everyday Monday - Friday.   After having another scan it showed the radiotherapy had not had much affect so on the 16th June again started chemotherapy.

This time Capecitebine and Avastin. Georgina stopped after 3 sessions as a scan showed disease progression, and she was very fragile.

After discussing options with the professor he recommend a drug called Olaprib. The problem being this drug would cost £5000 a month.

With no other option it was started on Saturday 22nd July and she has been on it since that time. The financial burden of having to find these funds are now just as worrying as fighting the disease itself.

A scan on October 2nd showed good response to the medication, however on the 8th of November after finding a lump in her neck She had yet another biopsy which confirmed it was unfortunately cancerous.

Georgina is due to have a PET scan on Monday 4th December to see if the medication is still working.
The next step if viable will be to carry on with the current medication and/or change to immunotherapy which will be at an additional further expense.

We are attempting to raise £35’000 to help toward vital treatment. This is only 7months worth, and much less if the additional treatment is required.

Things are desperate and we need YOUR help.
