George Northup Young Artist Scholar

Goodness is about character - integrity, honesty kindness, generosity, moral courage and the like.  More than anything else it is about how we treat other people." 

American Artist George Northup forever wanted to be a patron.  It was among his greatest joys in life to make enough of his time here to be able to give back and to assist in the path of those who aspired for... anything.  In his unique and remarkable adventure of life and business as a bronze sculptor, he nearly always worked in allowance or focus that would result in college scholarship funding or support for veterans or other cause meaningful to him. 

George especially loved to support young, often struggling artists.  He encouraged and mentored many, many artists who went on to fill their greater dreams in the profession, and he introduced them without hesitation or reservation to the amazing circles of art influencers and professionals whose respect he had earned over decades, and who could help them.  

In honor of this great generous spirit, and to fulfill his noble wish to become a patron, the George Northup Young Artist Scholarship has been formed to support one or more art students as he would have wanted.  

We will create a facebook page for contributors to keep track of the progress of these scholarships, expansion and developments as they occur, as well as continued support for the artists who receive them.  

As his family, we are creating this fund to honor our beloved father.  Knowing that his generosity,  dreams of arts patronage and love of helping young people will live on through that which inspired him most: tremendous fresh new art, and passionate young artists will be the final gratifying gift to us.
