George Jensen Handicap Accessible Home

Everyone who knows George Jensen knows that he loves motorcycles. And they also know that he is as passionate about safety as he is about riding. Which is why it was so unthinkable that despite wearing the safest equipment and taking the greatest care while riding, on the night of August 15th, he was catastrophically injured by a driver who ran a light. That split second decision has irreparably changed George’s life and the lives of his family.

Since then, George has endured lengthy hospital stays and undergone surgery after surgery as well as acute therapy to try to regain function. During the first grim days, it was unsure whether he would survive, much less return to his former self. He has worked incredibly hard to heal for the last few months at Bryn Mawr Rehabilitation Hospital. Even after this extensive rehab, he is still dependent on a wheelchair and largely unable to use his left arm.

The good news is that Geroge has made enough progress through his efforts that he has been discharged and will be continuing his fight for full recovery from home. The bad news is that there is an enormous amount of work that is required to make their home wheelchair accessible; ramp installations, bathroom functionality, etc. Simple tasks like washing his hands or getting in and out of bed will require modifications. Many of the expenses associated with making the house accessible are not covered by insurance. And unfortunately George is most likely still months away from being ready to return to his job. This situation has created intense financial uncertainty for the family.

George, Terri, Tara & Connor are asking for continued prayers and good thoughts for George's full recovery. The encouragement and support and innumerable acts of kindness the family has received since the accident have been inexpressibly helpful to George and the rest of the family. It is difficult to reach out again after all that has been done already, but the family needs help to finish the job of George’s recovery.

Ernest Hemingway once said that the world breaks everyone and afterward many are strong at the broken places. George has been badly broken, but with your help and love and support, he can be made strong again.

The family will continue to provide updates on the CaringBridge site and will provide additional updates as George continues his path to recovery. 100% of the proceeds from this campaign will be donated to the Jensen family and will be put towards George's recovery.

Thanks to everyone in advance for your generosity and continued support.
