Genesis House - New Roof Project

Donation protected
The Genesis House, Inc. is a  Non Profit residential drug and alcohol rehabilitation program. We have never been fully funded by taxpayer money; in fact government contracts have historically been less than half of our operating budget and in the past few years has decreased considerably– thus the necessity of fundraising.  Because of this we have become an organization that survives each month paycheck to paycheck.  And funds for necessary improvements are just not readily available. The program is in need of a new roof for the main house where we hold most of our activities and for the past 2 years we have been able to patch problems as they arise but to completely replace it would be the best solution to the problem. I have no idea how old the roof is and I have been involved with the program since 1992, what I do know is the program could really use a new one and cannot afford it.  I believe in this program and the only thing required is the desire to change.

Any help would be greatly appreciated big or small.

Substance abuse is not only a disease of the individual it affects everyone in the family and we believe everybody deserves a second chance.  For the most part our service fees are based on a sliding scale and ability to pay. So even if you don't have money you won't be turned away.

MISSION STATEMENT:

The Genesis House, Inc. was founded in May of 1972.  The initial formation of the organization was based on the idea of providing a re-entry program for other residential treatment program graduates.  By 1974 it became apparent that treatment services were needed and the program secured federal funding through the National Institute of Drug Abuse (NIDA) to provide long term treatment.  This continues to be the programs primary purpose today.

WHAT WE DO:

We provide long term residential treatment to men and women who require a complete life-style and environmental change.  We offer twenty-four care in a highly structured drug, alcohol and tobacco free residential treatment setting aimed at assisting clients in becoming totally abstinent and self-supporting.  We make use of treatment concepts, such as image building, self reliance training, decision making, peer pressure, one to one counseling, group therapy, and frequent individual evaluations.

Each client is required to work their way through a series of three developmental phases, each designed to augment the individuals personal and emotional growth.  The later phases of the program emphasize career guidance, vocational and educational rehabilitative services by offering after-care and sober living phases to assist individuals in readjusting to the community.  The major goal of the program is to graduate rehabilitated, independent individuals who have gained the necessary emotional stability and maturity in order to become productive, self-reliant members of society.
