My name is Evan D'Orazio, and I am a visual artist and educator based in Ferndale, Michigan. Since receiving my M.F.A. from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in 2016, I have kept an active studio practice while teaching ceramic courses at local art centers and colleges. The purpose of this gofundme is to expand my professional practice as a visual artist, and gain access to the specialized technology of holography.
When I was young, in the early 90's, I began seeing these colorful, highly-reflective images all around me. From my school notebooks, to Pogs, trading cards and stickers--this style was everywhere. I knew they were called Holograms, but I didn't understand how they were made--my childlike brain surmised they must have been made my large computers and a bit of wizard magic.

As an adult, I'm still reminded of the impression holograms made on me. The sculptures I create need to be translated into their own holograms. I find this medium to be an imperative step in my practice as an artist. Essentially, I aim to translate my small-scale sculptures into holographic prints, furthering my inquiry between the image and the object.
Recently, I've been accepted into the 2019 Holography Workshop, taking place at the end of April at Smith Lab at the Ohio State University. In this week long workshop, we will be learning how to make our own holograms!
This is where I could really use your help. Although holographic film and chemistry are provided for the workshop, all other expenses are not. As excited as I am to have been accepted as a participant, I cannot afford the cost associated with attending. Below is the projected expenses for this trip. I would need the funds by April 20th, which gives us a short window of two weeks to reach the goal.
