Help bring James home
Donation protected
On 16th August James had a serious fall while on holiday in Ayia Napa. He was rushed to hospital where he received life saving brain surgery that evening. Without this surgery he would not have survived the night.
James was placed on life support in the intensive care unit, and although the ventilator and sedation have now been removed, James has not yet woken up. We have been informed that this could take days, weeks or months, and there is no way to tell how long this will be.
Medically James is now receiving oxygen via a tracheotomy, and is on a high dosage of pain relief. When these medicines starts to wear off his blood pressure and heart rate soar which indicates then even almost four weeks on, James is in a lot of pain.
James is currently awaiting a transfer to a bed in a different ward, but due to bed shortages he is at present in a bed on a cardiac ward.
The hospital have stated that James is now able to be transported back to England for extensive rehabilitation, but unfortunately James did not have travel insurance, so this needs to be paid for privatly.
We have been quoted in the region of £20,000 to repatriate him back to England via an air ambulance.
Once home, James will be imediately transported to a hospital to resume treatment until he wakes up, and once he has woken he will have a very long road to recovery, with extensive rehabilitation necessary.
The hospital have not yet presented a bill for James's medical costs, but after emergency brain surgery, over three weeks in intensive care, and numerous scans we believe these costs will be quite significant.
James is also a self employed electrician, so unfortunately he will not be earning money for many, many months to come.
His family would be extremely grateful for any donation that you can, no matter how big or small to help to bring him home.
