Gary's Final Ride

The purpose of this site is the bid farewell and lay to rest a man of service not only to this country but also to his community. Gary L. Estes was also so much more to so many. He was a husband, a father, a grandfather, which many of us are but he was also a teacher, a mentor, and a leader as well.
That would be enough for most of us but not for Gary, as he was also a good Samaritan to thousands of people over the course of his lifetime in ways that would baffle most . Gary was and avid motorcycle rider because he shared this passion for riding with so many others this is a man that could hardly pass a motorcycle on the road without stopping to inquire if they needed assistance. Rain or shine day or night warm or cold friend or stranger if you were on a motorcycle on the side of the road and he knew about it he was on his way. He would even take calls in the middle of the night from his friends about other people they saw on the side of the road and he was on his way often times in his pajamas.
These actions were not taken that for wealth or gain they were simply taking because he cared for his fellow man his fellow rider " his brother " and anyone that shared the passion for riding. Often times we would pick up the stranded writer and take them to his house and offer them a meal or a drink and try to determine the malfunction that led to this situation and more often than not he would fix it and he would do that for free out of the kindness of his heart
I know firsthand what kind of man he is because he is my best friend , my brother, my mentor, my confidant and even sometimes my hero. He is no matter what and always will be with me and many others and thought of in such a fond manner.
No matter how you view is of the afterlife or from what back ground or faith you come from Gary was wonderful human, not perfect but more often than not a selfless man to that which he held so dear and someone that we could all aspire to emulate in that regard. He is the guy next door, always ready and willing to give a hand and always actively searching for ways to help others.
He dedicated his life after the military to teaching motorcycle safety or ensuring that course were conducted correctly in our community. He actively tought motorcycle safety courses from 1992 until 2016 and culminated as the coordinator of coaches at Thomas Nelson Community College.
His actions lead to thousands of people sharing his passion for riding all over the greaterHampton Roads Area.
We would like your assistance sending him off the right way, if you ride, if you ever wanted to ride, if you've ever enjoyed that freedom from the front seat or the back this man shared your passion...
Please help us do so and of course share this post with your circle so those that have been touched by Gary directly or indirectly have an opportunity to take part in this event.
Memorial services will be held February 3rd at 2 PM
at
Parklawn-wood, Hampton Virginia
2551 N. Armistead Ave.

A memorial ride on behalf of his wife and daughters will be conducted when the temperature is more conducive to maximum participation.
We will attempt to ensure all are made aware with plenty of time to take part in that celebration of life.
