Gardens in the Arctic - 2019

Donation protected
Last year we had a freak storm in the middle of July that killed about 70% of our seedlings.  That's the Arctic for you! That small thing lead to a series of unfortunate events that included spending more money than normal and a massive infestation of aphids.  Basically it meant that 2018 growing season was a wash.  We lost money and did not have money left over to pay for the growing year 2019.

But we are geared up with enthusiasm and renewed hope  (and stuff to fight aphids) for 2019.  But that means we have to reach out to ask for funding.

This year we will need to replace the top of the high tunnel which is a added cost, and we are hoping to add at least five gravity drip systems to our beds to improve yield.   We also need to cover the business property taxes.  The families that have green houses here that I personally help and provide all the fertilizer/seeds/seedling and knowledge and time are already covered, all of these funds will go to the high tunnel.

I have raised a few hundred dollars already but I realize that I cannot raise the amount I would need in time for the growing season.  Thank you to all you amazing people that see the vision of being self sustainable in the arctic and eating healthier!
